Nice one!
Would you mind giving us a quick summary of you've had to do to move to canada (visas etc) assuming, of course, that you were once a uk resident?
It's something that i would like to do in the future.
Of course. Most information can be found at
www.canadavisa.com and
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp
I took the easy route as I'm engaged to a Canadian.

I'm in Canada as a permanent resident. Basically the only things I cannot do here in Canada are work for the government, vote or claim benefits until I apply to become a citizen.
The main options you have to come to Canada are as a skilled worker, on a working visa and through the entrepreneur scheme. To qualify as a skilled worker your profession has to be on the wanted skills list, I can't remember the official name (
http://www.canadavisa.com/new-instructions-federal-skilled-worker-applications.html).
If you would like to move in the future do plan ahead. A skilled worker or working visa can take years to process in some cases. You'll need a little bit of cash and can choose to use a lawyer as I did. I used
www.canadavisa.com. The lawyer isn’t necessary but very much worth it IMO, I had a fairly complicated case in which was approved very quickly due to the law firms knowledge etc.
I forgot to add, these are some of the items I had to get in order to move:
- A medical, xrays, blood tests all sorts of other tests
- Criminal record check
- As a PR I had to have $10,000
- List of items imported etc
- I had to prove my relationship and that I wouldn't be a drain on the country (this was fairly challenging

)
- Notarized documents
I hope that helps, if there's anything more specific you would like to know give me a shout.
From the outside it looks like a garage with a house door bolted onto the side. Odd design.
Yep, I quite like that. Looks small until you step into the house and are like WOAH.
