Definition of a true science, please. (Sorry, I'm not digging at you, just saying if it's not a true science, then it's a pseudo science. Of which it clearly isn't). How have I got dragged into this? :p

That's the sort of thing I would like to be doing but unfortunately I am no braniac with maths (don't get me wrong, I am certainly not bad at it) and as a result I did not take Mathematics or a Science at A level and this is a must for most degrees of this kind :(

Perhaps I went to the wrong type of university but a lecturer is a Doctor and one or two people that run the school/faculty are professors, then it goes vice chancellor? That sounds like an American scheme?

eg. 90% of the lecturers are not professors and you need to be very good and get to the top/managerial side to become a professor (at least in the UK as I think lecturers in the US are called professors?).

I work for an oil, gas, petrochem and pharma engineering company. Im not sure how much geoscience they cover, not much Id imagine, those sorts of services are mainly covered by the main clients/stakeholders of a O&G project (Shell, Exxon, etc), or they would contract it out to a smaller specialised company. The company I work for engineer, procure, construct turnkey plants, stations, etc.
I worked in the office for 3.5 years to build up my knowledge before moving onto site based work. Im in Thailand as an expat; we do have a lot of middle eastern jobs too.
The industry isnt good at the moment, some companies are winning a lot of work, others arent. Its really hit and miss. Im enjoying it though, hard work but youre paid accordingly. Beats office work any day of the week.

Sounds about right - EDIT - if youre an electrical designer, why are you a tech clerk? Did you try and apply internally for any electrical designer jobs, or speak to the other designers in the office (staff and contract)? Im sure they would put you in touch with their agencies? I know many of them dont have degrees.

i tried, but i guess i have to stay there a bit longer first. I have been with FW only for about 14 months now and the problem is i don't work in HQ Reading i just work in the warehouse on the other end of town :(
