BC2 BETA... Your thoughts and SCREENSHOTS of it

Haha just remembered i hit the apache with a grenade launcher, didnt destroy it but its flight path certainly changed, blew away quite far.

Not been able to do this yet. I usually play Assault, but on attack once we take the 2nd base I just switch to Engie cus no one else will actually try and kill the chopper.

Yeah usually thers a pack of tards running about flailing their arms but nobody tries to shoot the damn thing down.

Its usually me spamming rockets at it or hopping onto a mounted mg.

What I do is just go recon, as soon as the first apache takes off I run to one of the MGs in the 2nd floor windows in the buildings where B used to be, and take the apache down with that. From then on I just mortar the apache as soon as it spawns and it will never take off every again. Or if the UAV is available, i use the UAV to ram the apache, it has next to no chance of hitting the UAV (although a smart pilot will take you out buy shooting the UAV station), and if you ram the apache it make take a couple passes but usualy you can make it lose controll and crash, no score for doing this though as they kills count as suicides.

Unfortunately, I don't play with people like you, who think.

What I really want to know is if there will be any stationary anti-air (such as stinger missiles, or some sort of flak cannon) in any of the retail maps. Because large conquest maps with apaches, hinds, blackhawks etc.. will be tough to deal with in large open areas. The beta map although is big in total, it is sectioned off into stages which actully make it quite enclosed, as soon as you give an apache a large breathing space it will be a right pain to destroy without some sort of dedicated AA.

Of course stationary AA may prove to be not needed if the 3rd rocket launcher is as good as i'm hoping it is, because it is wire guided and not tracer dart guided it may be easier to hit aircraft with it. With it locked in the beta though, there is no telling how effective it will be untill a week or so into release when people will start unlocking it.

are all maps in game snow based? Not really getting into this.

No.

I think the reason for the snow based map is to show off the physics. There has not been a snow map in the BF series before. Much the same as the L4D2 demo map, which was used as it is a daytime map when all the maps in L4d were at night.

Just shows off new stuff.

Ive seen pics of a few aa weapons, one seems to be an emplaced minigun turret.

I went 2 days without playing this, played it today and it just feels like a clunky, laggy, unresponsive mess all of a sudden. Even sticking to uk servers

Musta been the server seemed fine just now..

Anyone else of the opinion that this squad spawn gimmick is a little overpowering? All it takes is one guy to sneak behind enemy lines and then you have a whole squad swarming about, more the fact that you can spawn on anyone in the squad and not just the one guy.

Like i said before, this is why the commander is good,it is a vital piece of gameplay that affected the balance of play, you wouldnt get people sneaking around like that if we had a commander(so much for the not needed uav) as he would be able to spot them and issue orders etc or just send in an artillery strike...i love this game in terms of the destruction but the balance is nowhere near as good as bf2,shows how good bf2 actually is being released in 2005 and can still hold its own against any fps game of this type,i suppose this is where bf3 will come in to fill in these missing gaps that we have now.I think DICE are experimenting with this game to see what works and what dont....bc2 really is the blueprinted testing ground ofr the Ultimate Bf3.

 That's strange. I run my i7 at stock speed (still) and have got 5850 and I run all maxed out in DirectX 11 (1080p, all high, AA x 8, AF x 16, Vsync and HAOB (?) on) and still got more than 40fps. It is very rare it goes under 30fps for a second (if a lot of smoke around) Oh and Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit

What's HAOB do ?
I can't run 1920 x 1200. to slow :( all my other games are fine..

HBAO is some self shadowing gimmick thats really not that noticable in game. Apparently theyre reworking the shader so it has less of an fps hit, right now it sucks up around 15-20 fps.
