The *Official* Eve Online Thread

so lame, my internet is buggered until tuesday at the earliest, virgin reckon it's my modem, i reckon they're wrong, but what ever. managed to stick a nice long skill (mining V) in the queue in one of the brief moments the broadband was working so ive lost out on a bit of money but s'all good.

A good FC is key to a lot, we only had about 60 in our fleet yesterday, yet we kept warping to decent spots 60km from the SBU we'd placed down, which was being attacked buy a fleet of over 300 including over 100 capital ships, and we managed to get a bunch of logistic/battlecruiser/inty/frig/dictor kills for very few losses. Its all about the game plan ;)

lol bull****

why? that's how it works with a good FC. In MDK under Xaeon we could be a dozen of us in Hacs and what not and be able to kill like 10 of then to 1 of us. It is all about tactics in the fight.

We used to take on 10x our numbers in RR/Nano gangs :)

not hard considering nano ships used to be so OP that one guy could happily fly around with 50 people unable to stop him

Resubbed. :D Managed to move all my crap to one location too, took days.

I can't remember anything though, lol. I'm a 30m Skillpoint noob. Is there any corp where I can get back into the swing of things while pew-pewing people?

I believe we're open atm.

STK-Scientific, part of Inititative alliance. Living in Immensea but often on PvP roadtrips... currently restocking after campaign against the NC. Corp has lots of yanks but alliance is 90% euro, so either TZ catered for.

If you're in to 0.0 Pewpew then stop by in "STK Scientific" channel and speak to ice3, Sfsdf or Trev Kachanov.

lol bull****

How is that bull****? They bought capital ships to take down our SBUs as fast as possible. This is against AAA, one of the biggest alliances in the game, they fielded over 23 titans just to take one system inside providence. The field cap ships in obscene numbers all the time, because they know we can't put down a similar sized cap fleet to take them on, and cap battles come purely down to numbers.

As for smaller fleets going on grid with them, they didn't care about us and kept focusing fire on the SBU. Capitals usually pose very little threat to smaller ships, cruisers will take ages to lock onto you because of their signature radius, and dreadnoughts struggle to hit anything that's smaller than another capital and moving.

And as for titans, they can only really kill one ship every three minutes now, and wont get involved an anything other than a cap fight, so that's pointless..

But most cap fleets have support fleets to keep smaller ships off their cap fleet, and a bunch of snipers warping in 150km from the main blob can pick off these smaller ships and warp out, they just need to make sure any interceptors/interdictors don't get too close. It's all about tactics.

Only taking cap-capable pilots. I never got round to training one.

Getting into a cap ship is easy, and can be done with a minimal amout of training. Being good at flying a cap ship is completely different, you need insanely high NAV skills just to be able to turn one, high skills in Jump Drive operation so you're not spending a fortune on fuel, insanely high skills in either drones/fighter for a carrier, citadel torps, or some BFG's, your tanking skills need to be insane, and you have to know when to put a cap fleet down. You don't stick it into any situation, every capital ship move is the most strategic move in the whole game, because it will either win the day, or cost your alliance a trillion ISK and you'll have egg on your face.

I've got two alts training in galente and amarr capitals atm, and its not a pretty skill train. I probably won't even invest in the actuall ship till some point in 2011...

My corp, SPAWS, is recruiting at the moment. Were part of Gentleman's Club alliance, just got back from a war along side ATLAS, so just resupplying etc. down in Scalding Pass at the moment. Convo me if your interested - Karashur or Karashure.

*Gives you an evil stare*

Anyone who fights alongside the ATLAS scum is no friend of mine...

between gunnnery and ship command iv got just over 40 mil but nothing for caps are the tanking skills cap specific?

Nah, just the general boosts to shield/structure/armor tank. But you can actually fly a cap without any of those skills, which means you might as well be flying a 1billion ISK paper bag (ok its not that extreme you'll still have insane EHP, just a lot less than a skilled pilot). The biggest skill trains are Advanced Spaceship Command V, Battleship of your race V, Capital Ships to a decent level, and then your races Carrier/Dread skill.
