Subaru Cosworth...! What the hell..?

From reading on Scoobynet, this is "apparently" supposed to contest the Litchfield Imports Type 25 - which had a Cosworth Block, pistons etc, 415bhp - 0-100 in 8.something seconds :D

If Subaru go properly in with Cosworth and make a good 450bhp motor, with proper warranty, sub 40k - I think it will sell, slightly.

So what subaru is basically saying is, their own tuning arm STI, is not good enough to produce a hot version of the impreza.

no what they're saying is, that they already have a partnership with cosworth engineering and have seen another oppertunity for a special edition model.

Theres no word yet if it will use the cosworth block or if they will just provide some choice upgrades or what.

nobody is saying that STI arent good enough.

Heres hoping its not just a 330S with cosworth stickers and gearknob :(

They are doubly stupid as they get help from Prodrive too!

What losers!

After all, no other car manufacturers consult, do they?

Losers!

I wouldn't hold your breath. I'd be pleasantly surprised of course, I don't hide my love of the 7 sisters but its unlikely that wish will come true.

Mild mods and tweaks enough to put the RS nose out of joint, full warranty and not a huge mark up and they may sell.

An 40K (for instance) behemouth wouldn't sell.

Stulid - good post son :)

My understanding is that they have, or are about to, reduce or even drop their contacts with Prodrive?

vauxhall did similar with 888 racing after their touring car operation ended. Vauxhalls new official "tuner" is walkinshaw.

since prodrive are no longer running their rally team, the relationship has probably come to an end.

I look forward to this with baited breath but can only hope they produce a 'proper' sportscar rather than the pale imitations nowadays. the last truly affordable sportscar for the masses was the Sierra Cosworth. the Escort was marginally but wasn't as big a scene due to being overly expensive for what it was.

Since when has a Sierra Cosworth been a sports car.

Anyway, the Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000 was just as affordable as the Cossie (and cheaper than the Scortworth) and came later.

it's a more common sportscar to me than the lotus elises etc which are now the 'proper' sportscars. A sierra cosworth was in my eyes easier to play around with and tinker to improve which i guess made it good to me. but then i've always been around people who tinker with cars.

Review of the Litchfield / Powerstation Type 25

Given cosworth engineering have been making tuning parts fo subaru for years. its not as suprising as some would think.

*ahem*

416bhp and 0-60 in 3.9 would scare most things on the road.
