A poster suggested I put up information about how much it costs, etc, so here it is:
£59.17p for VAT because its imported, its NOT applicable for import duty [phones are excepted] I payed Google ~£343 IIRC. Don't order the charger with it. Its too expensive and is also slapped with an import tax. Get a BlackBerry micro usb charger of the bay or online its MUCH cheaper that way :)

For those wondering how long it might take to be delivered, I ordered mine on a Sunday night and received it by Thursday.

After much thinking in choosing between the N1 and the Desire I think I'm going for the N1. Heard good things about Sense but think stock android, voice-to-text and noise cancellation gives the N1 the edge (for me at least).

Anyone know how long these take to be delivered to the UK? My contract ends on the 15th of March so need a phone before then. Going with a t-mobile sim only plan and this phone.

Takes 2-3 business days, DHL are very good with it all. The VAT bill from DHL will be £59.13 there or there abouts. You won't get stung on import duty for the phone [They aren't elligible for it, unlike the additional charger - I didn't buy one from Google, I just use a generic mirco USB charger from a BB]

What advantages does the Desire have over the Nexus One (apart from the sense UI)? Was going to hold out for the Desire but could be tempted by this...

Desire has a trackpad over a trackball on the Nexus - ask anyone who's ever owned a black berry why this is a good thing :)

On the flip side the Nexus has some serious Google devs behind it - Most notably Cyanogen It is also cheaper to import than a few UK websites are listing the Desire for

Ultimately it will probably come down to which carrier you're on/like, and which phone they stock :)

I'll probably just wait for the Desire (sounds a bit better), it might affect Nexus One prices to make the decision for me though. My N95 8GB isn't broken yet and I'm getting 600mins/1200texts for £20p/m. If O2 don't end up getting either, I could still consider buying Sim free and keep my current deal going.

Cheers for the info. Re the charger: it works out at nearly £13 ($19.99) so from what I gather it won't be eligible for import vat (as it's under £18), nor customs duty (as it's under £135).

Can anyone confirm I've got this right?

Edit: Forget the query. I can get an official htc charger for it for less than £8 on amazon.

I am really interested in getting one off these and ditching my iPhone but I think I would prefer to wait until it gets a UK release anyone have any ideas when it will be released here?

No UK release date as yet, a few places have them up for pre order at a HUGE mark up. You will honestly have no issue importing from the states, its easy :)

Vodafone have been promising it for Europe since release, but still no firm details :(

If you really want one now, but don't want to import [Why? ], look at the Desire, formally known as the the Bravo, its the same phone with HTCs Sense UI, also no for sale in the UK yet, but quite a few places have it for pre order for less than the Nexus

If you do choose the Desire you will loose some of the developers that are hacking the Nexus, massively improving its speed and feature set.

I might follow suit if/when I restore my Cyan 5.02 build: I'm currently playing with the Desire ROM :D To say it was buggy would be being very kind :s fast as anything tho. I'll post some pics up for those interested in a bit :)

Thats why i haven't bothered with it. I've had Cyans 5.0 since the first beta and its been fine all the way... But a ROM form another device? Well i'll let them sort it out first. :p

Would be interested in what you think, and yeah post pic. :)

On reflection, maybe I was harsh flaws that immediately stand out are: Lines on the screen from the watermark removal, not a deal breaker as it doesn't effect functionality, I've tried to show it in the 2nd picture below - look at the menu launcher next to Phone

The big deal breaker however - No wifi :( This makes Griff sad :( **THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THE CUSTOM ROM I WAS RUNNING AT THE TIME, STOCK NEXI DO HAVE WIFI**

First task is to dump the HTC quietly brilliant boot animation and wallpapers to my PC - I love them :D that is possible isn't it? I'm sure I've seen a linky for doing the boot part anyway

One more observation: AMOLED + Speedlite flashgun = Rubbish UI shots :p

Ordered mine on the 17th, engraved and due for delivery today.

Arrived in Glasgow at 8 a.m on the 19th, and seems to have just sat there. :(
After the events of the last week - DHL taking 5 days to delivery a 24hour parcel and now this, to say I loathe DHL is an understatement.

I was just a bit worried if it would work fine yet on are Mobile Networks in the UK? Like I would want to use it on O2 here cause where I live I get really good 3G Signal and Speed.

Also I would be getting it on a contract because the payments would be made easier that why. I just don't really have the money atm to drop £400+ (Correct me if I am wrong) on a phone. I could wait a few months while I gather the money but I am sure by then the UK release off the phone will have happend!

Surprised about the no wifi really thought it would have that feature.
Edit it does have that feature what am i missing.

Just my custom Desire ROM that didn't - Even that has wifi now :)

Whats the camera like on this? Would one of you mind taking a couple of pictures pretty please!

Look a few pages back for a post of mine in the google employees given a nexus one thread :)
