*****The Official Aliens Vs Predator 3*****

I am getting the CTD when I try and run the normal exe (DX10 with no DX11 options in the menu)

I select a campaign, watch a cut scene, then I get the loading screen and then it freezes there. Eventually it CTD's where I see that the AvP game looks like it has minimised and sometimes a get a message stating something like 'driver amdkmdap is now working again'.

This is only the second game in as many months that I have had problems with and it is very frustrating when it happens. I have always been one of the lucky ones who have not experienced these in the past.

Seriously; if someone bought out an xbox like console that had a keyboard and mouse as the primary input method, the PC industry as we know it would die.

Anyway, anyone else got this issue? and how did ya solve it? I am gonna try and roll back to 9.12 now and see if that helps. If not then it will be DX9 for me only.
 
Just started playing this game on my pc (i7 920, 6gb ram and gtx 295) and have had a few issues. When playing the game every now and then the screen freezes and the sound cuts out. I thought it had crashed but when i press escape, about 15 seconds later it goes to the menu/pause screen and i can return to the game!? It keeps happening and with no particular reason. Starting to wish i'd bought the xbox 360 version! Anyone else have these issues?
 
Oh PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE will someone scare some young lass with their facehugger. When asleep sneak in carefully stick it on their head, have a vid camera i hand and somehow make her wake up and video the responce and youtube it for us. PLEASE!!!

Or maybe even grab ur pet rat or gerbil or somit and tie it on its back at night and have a vid camera watching the room and make sure ur both watching alien and lets see their reactions. MWHAAAA!!
 
I just wanted to put a good word in for this game as I found the first hour of the marine campaign to be a lot of fun. Of course the game is by no means perfect, I think a lot of the criticism has come from people expecting so much from it. After all the bad press and the mediocre demo I was not expecting a lot and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised.

No issues to speak off, apart from the well documented console feel to the game and the average characters / voice acting. Graphics are impressive and it runs better than I expected on my entry level rig. Pentium DC @ 3.25 / 4gb / 4670.

My advice is to forget about all the hype and lower your expectations slightly and the game can be very enjoyable.

Sorted this with the 9.12 rollback. Only played about 10mins in and the atmosphere is great. puts you right in a set that could have come out of Aliens. Satisfied so far and looking forward to trying the MP.
 
Have to say i am pleasantly surprised at how good it is. It does have a console feel to it, with lots of help telling you how to play different characters (which for me is welcome).

DX11 looks pretty dam sweet as well.

The predator is really good fun to play, wasted about an hour learning and taking my time and only 12% way through that one.... People who race through games just to moan and say "i completed it in 2hours" should learn to enjoy the content along the way!

This game costs the same as about 6 pints of beer, well worth the money.
 
Loving it so far. Graphics are pretty good. Objective markers might make it too easy but we'll see, maybe it's because i'm playing as Predator so he has the gadgets.

Loving distracting a marine to a secluded area, dropping down behind them and ripping their head + spine right out of their body. :p

I like your style! I lobbed mine at the missus when she walked through the door this morning, I don't think I've heard her scream so loud before :D
 
I want to play this so much on DX10, as soon as I get a loading screen, I get the hint info cycling through, then it pauses, crashes back to steam. Tried it on DX9 and maybe i'm too fussy, but it looks like crap.
