Am a part of the group, but you can't tell what folks are playing, most of the time I try and join and they are in single player.
There are hidden collectables in each level for each species, but apart from that none really, except for achievements or to just got through it on a harder difficulty

bigjimmyauk suggestion worked for me, just verified the games cached files, re ran and played fine...
Just finished all the campaigns and i have to say they were pretty good and the mp modes infestation and predator hunt are brilliant. Once the game is bug free and running better anlong with dedicated servers the mp experience is going to be amazing.
I also have this bug where i get like a 10 sec freeze every 5-10 mins of playing which is pretty annoying

Well, just ahd my first play and throughly enjoy it. Would have felt the game less value ahd I paid more but as it stands veyr happy. Just hope the mp community grows and develops.
Seems like a straight console port with DX10/11 added on to me.
Already tried that mate, although I might give it another go after a few MP games.
Well, I've given up. Spent the last couple of hours trying to get it to work, Googled for similar issues but could not find a fix. I updated my Nvidia drivers to the latest recommended for my card but all that did was give me repeated BSOD's after booting up for some bizarre reason. 
Rolled back to the previous driver and all is well with the system and it plays both Bioshock 2 and ME2 perfectly at high settings.
I could understand if I had these problems upon initially installing and trying to run AvP but for it to play perfectly one day and then fall flat on it's face the next for no apparent reason is enough for me, makes no sense.
Off to list my copy on the bay and then harvest some Adam.

Since it's a steam game, whoever you sell it too won't be able to use it. The CD key is permanently associated with your steam account.

Good lord whats wrong with some of you this new AVP is brilliant and i'm sure half of you are disregarding it cause of problems playing it...
i'm a very happy chappy the game is very good,very tense in places knowing the predator is stalking you but not making an appearance till halfway through the marine campaign. you know he's around when you hear him cloak.
i think the game is pretty solid and just a poor MP demo made half the peoples minds up.i'm definately looking forward to future patches which add more content and stuff.
i only had 1 problem and that was after my install i went straight to play the game which corrupted a file it does state somewhere in the read me that the system needs to be restared after installation and thats where half the probs are coming from.after i patched my noob mistake i've not had a problem since, i get the odd half second stutter when going from indoors to outdoors but very rarely,DX 11 mode is awesome tess on the aliens and the advance shadows are gob smaking.
i actually feel sorry for the peeps having problems as it's actually a very good game.
stay away from it on the consoles it looks like utter **** in comparison to the pc version.

anybody manage to get fraps running while playing this game under vista home premium x64 ?
I was having that prob but went to fraps website and downloaded newer version (I was using 2.xxx) and it works for me now
Ah well, I'll stick it on my shelf to gather dust then. Maybe a fix will come along at some point in the future and I may well give it another bash at some point down the line. But just now I'd rather play a few games that don't have me jumping through hoops in order for them to work.
