*****The Official Aliens Vs Predator 3*****

I have to hand it to them Rebellion are genius's, they've made one of the movies most scary monsters and made it not that scary.

The pulse rifle is useless it takes a ton load of hits to kill with it. The aliens move around like there retarded, no living organism would ever move like they do no, you cant hit them, so most of the time your in hand to hand. If you tried to hit a lion with the butt of a rifle it would have no effect, the aliens are weak and pathetic.

The levels are uninspired, the graphics just barely passable, you move from dull area to area, killing the aliens when they pop up.

OMG get real 3 shots with a pulse rifle to the head will down them about 10-20 to the body queens take about 100 shots to kill predator just blantently takes the **** trying to kill him is a nightmare.

maybe you should get good at the game and play on hard and stop wining.
Also maybe try playing it maxed out i agree it no warhead but the graphics are way beyond just passable

exactly how much of the game have you played 5 minutes the marine campaign really kicks in on the second chapter and well the last 2 chapters are just awesome

The problem these days everyone compares first person shooters to crysis

crysis was a 1off IMO it will be a long time before we see a game as visually stunning as warhead

The aliens move like the films???

I am quite pleased at how well they've related this to them, the game is good in my view and i can't understand how some sites gave it 5/10.I would say the odd freeze now and then is quite annoying but it's a great game discluding that which probably will be fixed with a patch.

I think it needs a good update then it would be one of the best fps games in a while.

++++1

i agree when the aliens stand they move exactly like the films especially the queens

i think our guy above your post was playing on easy with DX 9:p

Also can't understand how people say it's a console port, yeah maybe on an athlon 3000 or a P4, on a top end pc it looks very very good especially the lighting effects/shadows, some people just play games for 5mins then rate them or just simply impossible to please and seek the perfect game which never will exist.:p

Avoid if you haven't bought. Although if you consider the cheap price, maybe...

Anyway my copy arrived from Play today too, wasn't expecting much really and that's what I got.
Fiddled with the CD key for ten minutes.
This is the first game I've come across that didn't let me install it where I wanted.
The DX10 graphics are 'passable'. God it's soo consoley.
The controls suck: no next/prev weapons, controls changing on the fly etc. There's a joypad option! - which sad ***** play these games with a joypad? Jeez.
Admittedly I've only played as a marine for 15 mins (in the club area, under seige from a few aliens...one at a time actually), I'll probably give the game another go later, but you don't need to get that much further into a ****ty game to realise it's just that.

loving it myself nearly done marine campaign.

all i want is fov to 80 and its perfect for me

has anyone got any consoles commands that work yet ?

Played this for a couple of hours and think it's a great, haven't had any crashes or noticed any other problems. The only thing i find is it takes a few tries to get in a multiplayer game.

I don't know what some of you guys have been smoking but this a well above average game :)

Well, for gord's unbiased immediate opinion look no further.

1) DX10/11 was a no go.. too many freezes and crashes. DX9 however, rock solid at the moment and 95% as pretty.
2) MP needs dedicated servers. Ping bounces from 60 to 800 in some games and it ruins what would be an awesome experience otherwise. Even worse, waiting to get into a game is a PITA I could do without. Bring on the servers.
3) The atmosphere is fantastic otherwise (ref point 2). The sounds and lighting work very well and the MP levels are nicely constructed for the various races.
4) Pred is way too cool. Just jumping about the levels feels great.
5) Rebind your controls or become a contortionist. All I do is move sprint to left shift because I don't see how Q works. The rest of them are fine.
6) Pred has a giant spear!

So they are my key points at the moment. The dedicated servers could make this a classic, I just hope they dont come too late, as with the demo Rebellion seem to enjoy shooting themselves in the foot.

thie highlighted yellow text says it all play a game for longer next time before making such a harsh decision

Good points but these freezing problems seem to be system specific i get half second pauses very rarely when going indoors to outdoors other than that everything works fine on DX11 MAX SETTINGS 16AF,4AA etc etc

The aliens dont move like in the movies. For most of the first two movies they were on two legs, only on four when navigating walls, ceiling etc. They never did those impossible random, jump dodge, and side dodge manuveurs. They never took the most indirect route towards their target, just because its more fun and difficult to hit them.

The amount of hits they take is excessive and I know it scales up with difficulty, which is a false belief raising hitpoints raises difficulty, it just makes things take longer, and you run out of ammo sooner. The pulse rifle isnt the effective armour piercing death machine it was in the movies.

I think I'm nearly at the end of the marine campaign, have defeated the Praetorian and have got to collect the datapad from bishop. Nothing happened before that time which was memorable, interesting, unique.

'short controlled bursts' :p

Runs great, looks great and in the couple of hours I've played was great fun. I am a huge Aliens/Predator fan though. Think I'll wait until they add dedicated servers before trying out the MP but so far I think it's well worth the 17 quid :D

they do not take excessive amount of hits aim for the head

they don't take the most direct route to you what about out in the pyramid when you face the predator they navigate the walls to try and get you

the robots later in marine campaign are quite smart i was chasing one round a circuler work station and he kept avoiding me

don't know what aliens films you've watched but obviously not the same ones as me

i am an avid alien and predator fan i own multiple copies of the movies accross many formats, i have figures games you name it i've probably had it or traded it and only just started wittling down my collectables because i wanted to splash some cash and cash in on collectables current prices.

this is the only AVP game worth getting or has ever been worth getting it's the only game that actually tension in there.

maybe you'd be better of with a train or bus simulator has you obviously don't have a clue about this kind of genre FPS

What kind of minimum frame rate is everyone getting on dx11 with everything turned on?

i get 20+ with 1920x1080 16xAF,4xAA basically everything at max i get a constant 60 with v sync on if i drop to 2xAA and 8xAF

tessalation and advanced shadows are great and i'm hoping more games use the advanced shadows feature. if you haven't already you'll see it later in the maring campaign in full glory when an alien is killing a human awesome moment.

No spoilers, but do you guys think it might be a better single player experience if after finishing the first mission on the marine I started playing the other species stories?

So something like:

Mission One

Marine > Alien > Predator

Mission Two

Marine > Alien > Predator

Or if I'm better off playing one species campaign at a time for maximum enjoyment?
