Is it worth getting into WOW at this stage?

Basically as title. I've played the trial and enjoyed it but I don't really know whether there is any point starting playing at this stage. Any opinions/advice would be nice :)

Yeah, there is a new expansion due out later this year that will level the playing field kind of. Get used to playing it and get to grips with your character in time for Cataclysm is my advice.

Edit: This is what I plan to do, I have a few level 80s but I hated Wotlk in comparison to how much I loved TBC so hopefully coming back and getting ready for Cataclysm won't let me down.

If you played and enjoyedit then their is no harm in playing it, their is plenty of content as a new comer, though after a few years it does become dull and make all other MMO's seem vaguely similar :D.

There's always new people in games, doesn't matter when you start. I know someone who won't ever play a games multiplayer unless he buys it within the first month "They'll all be chinning me and I'll be crap"
I never ever EVER do subscription fees though, have you tried allods?

wow is still, after 5 years, superior to any other mmo I've played. Unless an mmo manages to steal it's lime light (many have tried all have failed) it will still be around for a long long time yet, I expect another 1-2 expansions after Cataclysm and expansions are released once every 1.5 - 2 years.

As with any MMO if you play for fun it's always worth getting into, but if you plan to compete with others who have unlimited time then it's probably not. Unless you're unemployed, filthy rich or a student.

Normal folk need not apply (unless it's purely for fun!)

When you say "at this stage" it doesn't really matter, when the Cataclysm expansion is released everybody will be put back on an equal footing and the cyclical race resumes.

This is a question i always wondered!

Either Way WoW will go 1 of 2 ways imo....

1) Continue to go the way its going until the year 3000 with updated GFX and possibly an ability to actually become your character in 200 or so years ;)

2) Or the new expansion pack will set up the way for a WoW 2.....

So in answer to your question.... its the worlds biggest PC game EVA (i hate WoW for the record), either way the producers will already be looking how to keep their massive user/fan base. I cant see them just bringing out a new game without sum how linking it to WoW!!!!

DAM YOU BLIZZARD GRRRRRrrrrrrrrr... why couldn't you have created Age of Conan now that is one MMO i would have maybe given up FPS for if Failcom hadn't have made it!

If you're enjoying Wow keep playing it i'd say - it's a quality game with so much to do whether your casual or hardcore. But like with any MMO, be prepared to invest a huge amount of time if you want to reap the bigger rewards.

I've been dying to get into an MMO again since I quit WoW but none of the MMOs I've played have seemed as good. The only thing I'll warn you about is the higher level content tends to suck up a lot of time.
