One oddity - in Vampire, The Masquerade: Bloodlines, male characters can only seduce female NPCs, but female characters can seduce either sex. Guess which dev team was into hot lesbian action...

Mostly female, especially in MMOs. I find people are more willing to give you stuff if you might be a chick, and I completely support the 3rd person argument - if for no other reason than devs always ovbiously spend more time crafting the female shape than they do the male. Added to that, man love doesn't really put me out - my first character in DA:O was a dude, and guess who I hopped on first?

It's something about the escapism, I can't do it if the character isn't the same gender. I can't imagine hacking an orc to bits when in my head I imagine them saying "I hope I don't break a nail."

but my main character normally is a male Mage and alts can be either sex

I play male most of the time, but i have to say i have this odd thing of only playing females n Beat'm'ups. I don't do this in any other game type.
