Give me an example of something you can do on a PC which has in no way shape or form has an alternative way of doing it on a Mac
EDIT: Whilst I'm not saying there is stuff you can do on a PC you can't do on a Mac (as believe it or not, I don't know everything) off the top of my head anything I've needed to do, I've not been limited by my choice in OS.

It beggars belief that people shell out the vast fortunes they do for MS Office when they could have OpenOffice and Thunderbird for free - but there you go . . . I believe that people were once expected to pay for Netscape
open offices support doesn't really match MS's for large companies.
So they don't use it, which means most people are better off learning the layout of MS office.
And it's just easier for compatibility as the average user doesn't really want to deal with the odd time or two that the formatting doesn't carry over.

They just get instructions on how to turn it off and on again.
Howabout people who want a good alternative to windows and couldn't give a flying **** about if it looks shiny or not?

Those people build a decent (and appropriate) PC, buy MacOSX for £25 and install it.
These days you can pretty much whack a Snow Leopard disc into some configurations and just install it from disc. Even if you can't do it that simply with your setup, it is increasingly easy to do.
End result: Good OS, half the price, twice as fast.

To sum it up though, Microsoft have allied with the HP/3COM stack with Hyper-V. But for every other stack, the vast majority of VMs deployed run Windows. VDI POCs have been hot the last quarter too (and this trend will run for the rest of the year). This again means Windows, Office, VECD (for now) and potentially App-V etc, regardless of the stack.
So yeah, they're not doing bad.
You also have to look at the Springsource and Zimbra acqusition by VMware to forsee how the normal application stack might/will change. But again, this is a year or two off and if I can see it, MSFT can see it. They're also doing some decent stuff in cloud computing so again, we'll see (and no, I don't mean Azure).
Right at this instant they're having their best time for quite a while. So top quality thread timing.

I agree. The iPad? Really? It sounds like one of those things women use
The difference being that the pads that women use are cheap and effective, whereas the iPad is.....
With Vista being such a disappointment, Windows 7 looking a tad overrated and the death of PC gaming I can tell you that the laptop I bought in '08 will be the last Windows PC I ever buy. My next laptop will be a Macbook Pro. The iPhone has reinvigorated my waning enthusiasm for computers and gadgets.
I'm not convinced by the iPad though, but who buys v1 of an Apple product anyway?

Who honestly gives a stuff about EULAs though? I bet you've agreed to hundreds that you've never even read. As for legality, i'm not sure breaking a license agreement can be considered illegal at all.
