LOTRO Beginner recommend race/class

I have started playing this recently as a minstrel called Cozmo on Laurelin (currently level 11), and I'm really enjoying it.

Is it possible to get more than one spellbar up? I notice that when you open the inventory you can see another 3 spellbars but they don't stay on display when the inventory is closed even if they are populated.

I was wondering the same thing

Its a really great game, but really doesn't matter what game you play these days, its been made far too easy in general and leveling is stupidly easy. IT wasn't difficult, but not hugely easy to get the "i didn't die till after lvl 20" titles, but it was more than possible to die by then. But these days any alt can get to lvl 20 without dying, just ran a captain through and only died when my connection died mid big fight and came back to a dead captain, about lvl 35.

Loremasters are really too versatile, with far too much dps for the amount of attacks/ways to do crowd control. RK is rather too good at healing and too good at DPS considering the strength in healing. Hunters are decent to play, and have almost become the hardest class because they are about the least capable of dealing with a bigger group of mobs these days, while anything else either has a bunch of stuns, a load of heals or heavy armour, heals, stuns and high AOE damage :p

I like that they rarely "nerf" a class, but normally buff up other classes, unfortunately this really has lead to almost any class being stupidly easy to play the game with.

Lone lands is a far more fun place to get through, before a recent update it was dull as heck, hard to find teams for team content, oddly spaced out and a strange bump in levels midway through the area.

Its a lovely polished game, and I doubt anyone would regret playing at least one character through to the end content area's, even if you don't ever go in a raid. Its a fantastically made world, with some fun quests, the book storyline is great and any fans of the films/books will love seeing it in a game at least once.

But I've almost given up on it due to the uber easyness of it these days and the smaller and smaller increases in content.

I agree with your post entirely.
My confidence in the future of lotro is dwindling.
I think I read that there was rumours of the devs turbine working on another mmo and lotro is funding it's development.
Although lotro is their most successful mmo to date.
They seem to have resorted to smaller paid xpacs instead of full blown expansions and the rumours that they have laid off a lot of their workforce appears true.
I would love to see an annoucement of an xpac similar to SoA or MoM but if the next xpac is similar to siege of mirkwood I think I will throw in the towel on this mmo.
It would be a real pity as I think it's so much better that WoW.

Siege of Mirkwood worried me alright. If you look closely at what they're doing too - things like reworking skirmishes often don't need new area design, just nab existing world areas and add a few flames, more or less. This doesn't take a huge investment in manpower, neither does reworking crafting recipes.

I'm not too worried at the moment, since my highest character isn't half way through moria (my god what an expansion!), but what their next expansion, paid or otherwise contains will definitely show where the game's going. At the moment I'm prepared to believe mirkwood is a stopgap while they work on something big and impressive (Isengard / Rohan) but if that turns out not to be the case it doesn't look good.

I think their next xpac will be amazing as they will be going up against cataclysm and old republic.
I think siege of mirkwood was nothing more than a smaller xpac to fund development of the next big xpac.
I imagine the next big one to really open
up the landmass to something fantastic and we will see a real reason to own a horse or maybe something like a horse that's similar to the LI system.
That will get us ready for Rohan and mounted combat.

After reading this I thought I would play a Captain more. I've just gotten my first herald who just sits there doing nothing I remember a box came up saying use the pet interface.

However I have no interface. Any one got any ideas on how to make it appear?

You should get a pet command bar appearing when you summon a herald, I don't think you can hide it in the options, but I could be wrong.

It's not hidden behind another hotbar, is it? If you hit CTRL and # in game it brings up the UI arrangement screen, it might show if you've gotten it hidden somehow.

Ah yeah it could be behind my chat interface in all fairness which I make solid so I can read it. I'll double check when I get back home!

I'd say its more currently its DDO which has been revitilized into a Free to Play game which is currently seeing its 3rd update since September. LOTRO's Dev team is defiantly smaller now and you are correct Turbine secured extra funding last year to work on a new MMO which has yet to be unvieled.

LOTRO plans to add DX11 support 2nd half of the year as well.

As for a OCUK guild why not join some of the many great kins around (guilds) instead? I'm sure many are looking for some new people.

(note mines full atm) :)

I thought it was first half?

Next Expansion will be Rohan.

The next landmass we will see will be the gap down from eriador to rohan, aka Enedwaith.

Is that actual fact yet, or is it still just understanding and logical guesses?

Half tempted to start a few alts properly, loaded up my lvl 56 champ (doing the Angmar quests I missed and Moria) and just didnt have any motivation to play.
