jim bean or jack?

Off topic a bit, but I'm currently feeling rather drunk after consuming a fair bit of whisky this evening :s

this is turning out to be an informative thread, last week i finished off a bottle of jack id owned for about 15yrs, it was smooth, really smooth! now how much difference the 15yrs made is difficult to quantify

was it opened during the 15 years? if so, it was probably the Alcohol oxidising into aldehyde which was then numbing the tastebuds and sensory receptors on the way down

whisky doesn't get better in the bottle.

These "which drink is better than that drink" always make me chuckle. The very fact that there are so many different varieties of whisky, sour mash and bourbon out there, as well as those of brandy and wine, is quite simply because we all have massively varying tastes and opinion of what is nice and what is not.

It's down to individual taste people. There is no right or wrong. Try the JD and if you like it, great. If you prefer the Jim Beam then that's good too.

Me? I can switch between the two but tend to gravitate towards JD with coke but have got sick of it of late and more so when I came across a South African brandy calle Klipdrift Premium which is superb and makes an excellent long drink with coke and ice.

Now Gin on the other hand. Got to be Plymouth, Bombay Sapphire or my favourite Hendrick's. :)

Neither, 'Aromatic' Gin ***. Personally I love Bombay but my brother is a firm Hendricks fan. Gin you drink with ice and or tonic imo unless it is sloe gin.

Jack, Jim bean is failure bourbon. Jack is maple charcoal filtered and gives it a very syrupy sort of burnt sugar taste that nothing else has I find, a very smooth whisky. It's alright with a dash of coke, straight or maybe with ice.

Jim beam just tastes like burning tyres and ginger, complete ****ing waste of money,

For Bourbon Makers Mark is really good
For JD the Silver Select is my favourite.
Malt, too many different ones to try first :)

KaHn

both cheap and taste like muck... pah a true whisky is not served in ASDA or every cheap bar going and never comes with coke!
