If you haven't travelled you don't know jack...

if you travel a lot you probably would have a lot of stories to tell , thats about it really

Ive been to so many places, takes a while to remember them all

It can certainly give you a different perspective on things, you take some of those things back with you I think. But this doesn't mean that someone who hasn't travelled knows jack.
After spending a lot of time in Cyprus I have a much more laid back attitude towards things, αύριο αύριο for those in the know.

Disagree, but then I'm the sort of person who'd prefer to stay at home and have a nice cup of tea that go somewhere "exotic" like the Far East :(

Define "travelling" first of all.

Lemme give you an example. My family tend to travel for cultural + sightseeing reasons, such as Istanbul in Turkey (sadly, I was unable to go due to an internship) where they saw various sights like the Blue Mosque, and shopped and dined locally.

For other people, a trip to Turkey involves jetting to a coastal resort hotel and sunbathing by the pool all day without ever seeing a local.

Never really thought about it, I know loads of people that are well travelled and I wouldn't say they were part of an enlightened elite. Most of them are no different to what they were before they did it. I guess it depends on what you do, i imagine if you went on a grand tour and spent time actually studying other cultures and art etc then it must hav some impact, if however you spend your time drunk picking fruit in Australia or walking round in a sorong in Bali then it's no different to a weekend in Brighton.

Oh really? That's exactly what they mean is it?

You've been talking to too many students mate.

So your saying that your "travelling" is better than their "travelling"?

You get to lord it over other travellers by virtue of what exactly?

Wait a second here... You belittle their experience in your original post, and then try to change it into an argument against my original post.

Nice troll. :D

I'm lucky to have travelled widely for pleasure, interest and work. I've gone native having lived abroad too.

However, I would not be so narrow minded as to assume that people who haven't travelled are by default narrow minded. Travel can be enriching and can be valubale and pleasurable but the OP's post comes accross as a bit crass.

Jumped up 19 year olds who have a couple of deep and meeningfuls on the tourist trail and suddenly become authorities on just about every subject, whilst viewing their well beaten path as unique, are quite annoying.

I couldn't agree more. However I'm 31 and very much doubt I fall into your (clearly pre-defined) demographic.

pompous much? Had you been 21 your post would have been forgiveably crass, at 31.........;):p

You will notice that sentence was a statement and at no point did it mention you.

So what you're saying is it's not people who've travelled it's people who travelled like you did?

I'm pretty sure the "next grade" up from you look down on you too.

But where did you travel what cultures did you see?

Russian/American/European/Chinese?

Cultures which are very important in the world or some random country with about as much global impact as Anglesey, but popular with "travellers"?
