Best graphics game?

but crysis sucks so bad, never did like the game, looked pretty but lacked gameplay, and it was so badly optimised

just got my new 5850 toxic, whacked it in, cranked up bc2 only to find the beta has ended prior to the release. I was sorely upset, until I looked at my steam list and realised I had completely forgotten about Crysis: Warhead being on there...and I never actually finished it (I finished Crysis)

I am currently virtually drooling with anticipation as it re-downloads...still yet to see anything that can properly claim to challenge CryEngine 2 at full whack....

Its going to be a while before Crysis is bested properly purely because crysis was a tech show, it was made with the mian purpose of looking the best it could bE, no other game has been made like that since far cry and the only way it will really be improved upon is when crysis visuals are the norm for games.

Or atleast thats what i think.

how is it not badly optimized, the power of a core i7 at 4.00GHZ 6GB ddr3 and a 5890 2gb gets 35fps at times at 1920x1200.

just check youtube its disgraceful, that rig has the power to become self aware and it cant get 60fps in crysis in firefights :<

thats the reason im holding out until i can get myself a 6 core at 4.00GHZ with 12gb of ram, im gonna bitch slap crysis on max so hard....but i dont think i can wait on it much longer Q2 2010 please god im on my knees here ;)

I'm quite content with how my machine handles Crysis on very high with similar specs, albeit @ 1440x900 at around 25-30fps.

I guess it would be wise to see what happens to GPU prices when the Fermis come out, but I just built my mate a £700 PC (ATI 5850, i5 750, 4gb RAM) that runs it at a much higher res, very high at a flawless frame rate.

Crysis runs on Dx9 and technically does way way more than ME2. Adding DX10/11 to ME would do next to nothing and certainly wouldn't destroy Crysis. I think you prefer the art direction, which I can understand.

Yup.

Loved Crysis, picked it up at christmas during the sale for a tenner, I even liked the zero grav bit eveyone seems to depise - what was wrong with it? Only thing I found strange is that your suit apparently had boosters on it.

BC2 looks good and plays great at full whack on a 5870, but doesn't look anywhere near as good as Crysis.

didn't crysis have lots of problems that caused unstable gameplay? (memory leaks etc)

i'd say shattered horizon is another game that looks really nice

As an overall picture Crysis has still yet to be surpassed although in certain sections it is easily outclassed. Indoor textures are sometimes average at best, as are some of the models used in the game.

The main problem I have with Crysis is the inconcistancy, sometimes the scene is nothing but draw dropping whereas at other times it doesn't look all that great (agian the indoor scenes are a problem here).

It could get 60fps in firefights, but you'd need to lower the settings, and then it wouldn't look as pretty.

That's the whole point of Crysis, and the reason its still regarded as the best looking game to date after a few years. Crytek did the right thing in making it so demanding on hardware.

Other games will get higher fps, but they don't look as good.

Crysis has awesome gfx no doubt, but as a game it's totally pants.

Easy to complete even on the hardest setting.

Only thing that porved tricky was the end bosses.

But as the title of the thread goes, my answer is Crysis.... a mate and me must have spent at least 2 hours in awe of going underwater and out again on it just watching the water drip down the mask lol!!

So pc graphics haven't improved at all during my 2 year break? :S

The average gfx in games has improved a long way in the last few years.

The ultra high end with little market and so little investment has not.

So what is the point of all these new graphics cards for over half a grand...

So that you can play next years games at good settings.
