Best graphics game?

But as the title of the thread goes, my answer is Crysis.... a mate and me must have spent at least 2 hours in awe of going underwater and out again on it just watching the water drip down the mask lol!!

haha, I remember doing this. Crysis was quality for graphics. I liked the game too

I liked Crysis, but only after the aliens showed up. OK, the tank bit was fun. Aliens > North Korean clone army.

I'd have to say crysis as well, Although the new S.T.A.L.K.E.R game is wowing me at the moment. Its not consitently beautiful, but the lighting and some of the texture work is awesome.

Oh and the night time thunderstorms.... i find myself standing in awe sometimes.

My 4870 isn't liking it much tho :p

just got my new 5850 toxic, whacked it in, cranked up bc2 only to find the beta has ended prior to the release. I was sorely upset, until I looked at my steam list and realised I had completely forgotten about Crysis: Warhead being on there...and I never actually finished it (I finished Crysis)

I am currently virtually drooling with anticipation as it re-downloads...still yet to see anything that can properly claim to challenge CryEngine 2 at full whack....

You may be pleased to hear that my system runs warhead at above 30fps all maxed with 2xAA at 1680x1050

So pc graphics haven't improved at all during my 2 year break? :S So what is the point of all these new graphics cards for over half a grand...

Crysis is still the reference imo. Considering games are mostly designed for consoles and then ported for PC, this explains why PC envelope has not been pushed - (if you remember Crysis did not really sell very well) since consoles still use same GPU.

point of new graphics cards is to increase your frames per second etc.., it is not necessary, but is always nice to have ;) - i am sure my old 8800gtx could handle any game I throw at it in 1900x1200. I gave it to my bro and he was fine with it, when it died BFG gave him a new GTX 285 as replacement - WOOOT! i was jealous :o. will buy BFG cards from now on

I can't believe I'm saying this but, the closest game to Crysis graphically... is a PS3 game - Uncharted 2.

Yeah, Uncharted looks incredible. The textures are a little low res and the actual resolution is pretty low (720p?). However the shaders, lighting and general rendering of the scene is the only console game I can think of that rivals the latest PC game graphics.

Actually aside from the same problems with textures killzone 2 had very very good graphics too.

I'm suprised no-one's mentioned Mirror's Edge. Whilst it doesn't have the vistas and sunrises of Crysis, and it's extremely stylized, the textures and lighting are nothing short of superb.

the ress will be far below 720p.

and the fps capped at something like 30 max.

If you made a pc game with the same res/fps requirements (and optimised specifically for a small range of hardware) you could make crysis look like a polished turd

For the record, it's rendered at 1280x720 at a pretty much constant 30FPS using 2xAA, HDR and SSAO.

I've not seen a pc game with better graphics then crysis on very high everything with AA and AF on at 1920x1080. Some parts of the game look utterly believable when its in full motion. Gameplay was really nice as well giving you multiple ways of doing the game (either rambo it or stealth approach to anything)

I'd personally say the only other game where I actually thought "wow" at the graphics was deadspace due to its very good use of field of view
