Awake at 04:00 (Scum dole *****)

At the end of the day £600,000 isn't THAT much, roughly half what most people will earn in a lifetime. You couldn't even really live off the interest on that, say you put it into a 4.5% account (minus 2% inflation), you'd only have £15,000 a year to live off! I'll keep my job ta :)

I'll put 50-50 odds on you burn through it all in 10 years :p

Fun fun fun.

I'm happy.

Anyone angry at me for having a life free from work?

My auntie died last year (I loved her lots) and I'm living of the cash from her will. Should I be out looking for a job or just kicking back and smoking some weed like she did.

I don't have enough money to last me for the rest of my life. I'm getting the full amount when I'm 21 but just now I'm on an allowance of £200 per week.

Should I learn a trade or just wait for the payout (not enough to last my life at my rate of spending) or try to manage my money like my aunt would have wanted me to?

I will recieve 600,000 when I'm 21

£600000 Isn't going to last you long, a house, a car, a wife and kids when they come along and youre then skint with no trade, job or real future. I suggest using the money wisely. Invest in a trade of some sort and enjoy the money.

Trust me, the combined income of my wife and I is touching £200k a year and we live to those means, as will you and before you know it you'll be skint.

I think you are a joke if your using that money to waste it away.

Smoking weed and up til 4/5am.... brilliant life.

Your aunt would want you to whittle your life away?

There is living a full free life then there is you. Sorry I just think you could use that money much better

All on black. You'll win either way. ;)

Ignore this. It's red you want. Definitely red. ;)

Whatever you do, the important thing is you don't waste it on drink/drugs/whatever else takes your fancy. At your age, you'll probably ignore this advice however. It took me until my mid-30s to even get a clue about money management.

As above really, it's a great start don't waste it. I suspect by the time you get it your outlook will have changed. It's your choice whether you use it as a springboard for good things or blow it on trash.

Good luck

You will end up blowing the lot. A couple of nice cars, there’s £150000 gone and your fortune is down by 25%. Buy a nice house what are you left with. Then comes along a wife and kids. How long are you going to pay for all that lot before the money runs out?

Get yourself a profession, buy a house, spend some and invest the rest. You will then be comfortable for the rest of your life.

Well,

Invest wisely and you wont have to work at all.

If it were me I would buy a couple of properties to rent which would give you permanent fixed income. I'd enrol in university and do something for fun with no pressure on results: you can go for free with no constraints!

Just don't squander it. You'll end up frustrated and hindsight will be painfull.

Sorry about your Aunt mate.

Read the 4 Hour Work Week... he'll give you some inspiration as to what to do with your time. :)

If i had that money i would do the property game and buy cheap houses and rent them out. While doing this i would get myself a descent education and the qualifications i need for a job that i'd really like to do.

If I were you, I'd be looking to getting a good job, education etc and using the inheritance to supplement that. Buy a sensible house, invest the rest of the money and retire very early.

Buy yourself a nice big house with the money, pay it all off because thats the main worry. After that learn a trade and start your own business, if you dont want the hassle of that just work for someone else but with your mortgage payed off you can live more than comfortably.

Tbh though we will probably see a thread when you turn 22 saying you wasted all the money in a year :D

I will recieve 600,000 when I'm 21

Is that after death tax takes 40% ?

You're not scum, you're just bone idle :)

I stand to inherit considerably, but that doesn't mean I don't want to make something of myself, and set my family up for generations to come.

Work hard, earn you own money, and put the inheritance away or buy something awesome with it. £600k Isn't a huge amount in a lifetime.

Ant

Meh, upto you really OP....

I know I wouldn't just flop 600,00 down the drain that my nan has saved up for me

Get yourself a house.

If you blow the cash on a great lifestyle, when it is gone, the contrast before and after will make you suffer.

Get some sort of work, even if it's part time

It's healthy to get out of the house and do something productive imo :)
