Supermarkets that stop doing products you like

My local Tesco is the worst shop I have ever had a chance to leave my money in. In late 1970ies they opened huge supermarket in the very center of town, huge, ugly thatcherite, brutalist style prison look-a-like mostrocity right off the high street. 7 floors of parking, green market floor, restaurant, huge floor space, what have you.

Few years later they killed off local mum&paps shops, market stalls, veg stands, etc etc. As soon as all small traders were gone, Tesco closed market floor, restaurant, divided store floor space in half and locked four floors of parking and two out of three lifts. And moved on to build another monster hypermarket 4 miles down the road.

For the past 5 years it's easily the worst supermarket in the country - it's worse than Tesco Express outlets, worse than petrol station stores. They never have anything in stock, half empty shelves, massive queues to few open tills, leaking freezers, wet floors, overflowing toilets and missing ceiling panels. They don't have almost everything from the "Finest" range, and everything they introduce and is worth buying immediately gets discontinued. It's like a shop full of revolving "one time only" deals. And when you ask they deny any knowledge of it ever being in stock before. I literally take pictures of items and barcodes now to get them to check stock. The store is so bad, it's unbelievable. But for thousands of pensioners and people without cars in town it's the only shop to buy food. And believe me, with stuff they have on shelves it's like a rubbish bin behind real Tesco store more than actual supermarket.

I'm surprised nobody has noticed how they Introduce new products & then Gradually make the location smaller & put there Own Brand version in it's place.
Yup, I pretty much exclusively shop at Iceland and they're guilty of this. They used to stock heaps of Chicago town pizza's, Birds Eye products etc.

Now it's all their own brand crap that sells for cheap as chips £1. They're of such poor quality that I end up shopping at the dreaded, newly opened Tesco's (whom I hate) and then walking home through Iceland with my Tesco bags just to annoy the manager who most likely knows I'm a frequent customer.

Gosh fancy a business having a primary objective of maximising shareholder value.

Perhaps they should be a charity?

What an Idiotic comment but then it is You isn't it.
Back to Constantly Quoting me again I see.

Roast Chicken & Thyme crisps are increasingly being phased out in all the shops I go to. Why? It's the most delicious of all the Sensations crisps, but nobody seems to eat it except me.

I don't see how its idiotic. You seem awfully upset that a supermarkets main aim in life is not to meet the needs of the local community. Thats not a supermarkets purpose. You seem to be portraying them as some sort of evil monster. Not at all - they are simply businesses.

Well its a forum, I tend to quote people when I reply to them

I'm quite fussy with cereal there aren't many I like but Tesco started doing Special K Medley, just long enough for me to get a taste for it then stop stocking it :/ Tesco has a bit of a monopoly on the easy to get to supermarkets in town so looks like I will be doing without.

Haha funny you should say that look what i got today:

What are you on about now

Chill out - you cant come into a thread and rant about supermarkets and not expect people to challenge you on it - thats how it works. If you dont like that then dont express controversial opinions!

It seems that every product i like is replaced with an inferior product.

I used to love tesco/asda mini pizzas, 10 for £1 and they were delicious grilled. Then one day they were replaced with, basically bread with a dusting of cheese. In fact the cheese content is so minimal even the CSI team would have trouble finding it after zooming in and enhancing several times.

Another example is Tesco's spicy pepperoni pasta bake. They stopped selling it for a while and then when it was back it tastes horrible. Nothing like the one they used to sell.
