PSN goes all Millennium Bug on us

That would be silly because a full recall could potentially end Sony.

Could it? They must have a lot of , but I could imagine the meteor sized dent that it will cause. Don't think it would come to that; it would cost less to hire the best techies in the world for a fortnight/month to fix it.

Will be interesting to see if the proposed midnight wonder fix does not work, especially as a game just released as an 'exclusive' will not work without a PSN connection. My highlight the problems with doing such things that us gamers have been going on about for ages and have been largely ignored on.

A recall would seriously seriously hurt Sony. Assuming a really optimistic scenario, if it's 10 million consoles worth 200 quid each, that's £2000 million.

Quite a frightening number. It would basically be the equivalent of Sony being forced to give away all their consoles that were supposed to be sold for the next few years.

This is why I love owning both consoles although my PS3 see's very little use now,

Turned it on and having to do a system update but will probably be having the same issue as everyone else since mine is a 60GB model.

A recall does not mean we get new machines, all they need to do is take out the battery, put it back in and return it

I have the solution though, all they need to do with the OS/Firmware is add 24 hours to the conversion they do from GMT to Local time, ie CET is now GMT+1 this has to be GMT+25

That way nothing has to be done about the system clock and the date will be correct again.

That is very true on the battery thing, but how long would it take for Sony to receive millions of consoles, change the batteries in them and return them back?

Either way, if it can't be fixed through an online patch, it could get very uncomfortable for Sony!
