Infinity Ward Bosses thrown out by security

Jason West and Vince Zampella, two lead developers at Infinity Ward, met with Activision earlier today. Then they seemed to disappear and "bouncer-types" showed up at the studio. This Activision filing might explain why.

"The Company is concluding an internal human resources inquiry into breaches of contract and insubordination by two senior employees at Infinity Ward," Acitivsion states in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. "This matter is expected to involve the departure of key personnel and litigation. At present, the Company does not expect this matter to have a material impact on the Company."

Activision also adds that it will be releasing another Call of Duty game this year. That game is believed to be developed Treyarch.

According to West's Facebook and Linked In pages, he is currently no longer working for Infinity Ward.

The emerging spat between Activision and the heads of Infinity Ward may have been caused by unpaid royalties.

Website BingeGamer (via VG247) was told by a collection of unnamed sources that not a single penny of the $1bn generated by MW2 has been seen by Infinity Ward.

The report also states that the "insubordination" IW bosses Jason West and Frank Zampella appear to have been sacked for was caused by secret discussions with rival publishers.

Infinity Ward partially owns the rights to the Call of Duty IP, and the studio's contractual obligations to Activision end October 2010, the report pointed out.

News broke early this morning that security had arrived at Infinity Ward to give West and Zampella their marching orders, following an internal human resources inquiry.

There's still been no official response by Activision or Infinity Ward.

Wait so after October this year, Infinity Ward are independent developers again, i.e. not owned by Activision? Or would the ending of 'contractual obligations' just mean freedom over what is produced by IW?

Yes this is the game. I hate trying to find a server...opps a HOST to play on!

If the host's pc is crap, it lags the game, sometimes (but NOT always) the game changes host ('migration') but in my experience it takes about 10-20 seconds (not 5 seconds as IW say).

That's if you even find a host...longest times it taken me is 2 minute (once had to exit and restart the game cause of annoying error messages spamming) and after each game (i.e. 1 or 2 rounds) there is an intermission between starting a RANDOM map again which lasts 60 seconds. So annoying if you want to play your favourite map INSTANTLY and also there is LIMITED HARDCORE mode options only hardcore Headquaters and Teamatch and Search and Destory I think not like the ones I like such as the other game modes e.g. Demolition or Capture the Flag.

so are these the guys who screwed the pc lot over with no dedicated servers ?

anyone have their email addresses where we can send hahaha email cards to :p

Damn, I wish I could view those articles at work. Anyone got some tasty quotes?

I've no idea if this is real, but I saw this in the comments on Kotaku and lol'd

Activision are blatantly the bad guys here, I doubt it was infinity wards idea to make the game so "consoley" and infinity ward probably gave them some well deserved stick.

I have a feeling the no dedicated servers was down to Activision to be honest, but that fourtwozero guy is their kind of man so of course he stays.

Wish he HAD been fired....
