300m? Real men don't get out of bed for less than 600m.

You're right about the Lee-Enfield though: a basic, but robust piece of kit, with superb accuracy. I used to use them at 200 and 500 yards in cadets, but that was a very long time ago. For anyone who understands, I got second place in the Wellington one year at Bisley.

Nice one i got my marksman badge on the 303 at longmore :)

fired lots there gpmg was my fav did like the bren also funny how it bounces forward even though it uses the same rounds as the Enfield

I quite like the muffs !

Hey OP,

I own a few shotguns but have always wanted to indulge in a bit of rifle shooting. I was looking at Bisley etc about a week ago, I don't want the hassle of joining a club etc though, do they offer day guest passes? I think you have to pass some sort of NRA safety certificate though?

I have a .17 HMR and section 1 Shotgun both for farm/vermin control, that accuracy international rifle looks damn nice though. I wouldn't mind getting into centrefire range shooting sometime, maybe some .50cal I think there is only a couple of ranges in the country that allow it :p

Also, does anyone who is know of a reputable dealer in antique firearms ? Specifically, I aim to own a Martini-Henry .45 rifle from the British colonial era.

I'm not sure if this will be of any use to you but there's some very nice firearms pass through from time to time. Can be expensive though as you have to allow extra for what the auction takes on top of your final bid.
I've used them previously and had no problems with them although my particular bid wasn't for a firearm.

Edit: a link would be handy for you. :)

i have been looking for shooting ranges in london but since they have stolen all the populations guns i have not find any where you can shoot freely.

They force you to pay for an instructor and a set amount of courses. They supply the guns and you have to give all your information and join their database etc.

I am correct in saying that i can't just buy my own gun (with a license) then take it down to a shooting range on a sunday afternoon and fire off some shots ?

You can't get an FAC unless you are a full member of a shooting club, and most will put you on probation for a few months before you become a full member. Believe it or not, bone fide gun clubs do not want people who want to: "take it down to a shooting range on a sunday afternoon and fire off some shots", for a number of reasons. The first of which is: it's people with that attitude to firearms who shouldn't be allowed to own them. So the club wants to know how serious you are - and they have been known to voice concerns to the local police. If you're not prepared to show at least some discipline then you are out.

Here is a youtube video of me firing at targets 120 yards away

.17hmr CZ American 452, simmonds whitetail classic x50 scope, SAK moderator, harris bipod and a trigger mod kit, 5 shot mag (although I realised there was only 4 rounds in this vid :) ) shootig on private 500 acre land which I used for hunting rabbits/foxes

P.S the bikes in the video are the landowners, he was 2 fields behind me, a lot of people were slating me on youtube thinking I was shooting them

Also had a Lanber Field Delux over and under 12bore shotgun which I used for pigeon shooting (decoying) duck hunting and clay pigeon shooting. I used to love sitting in a hide on a sunny evening over some crops, pigeon decoying is awsome fun, very testing as they are fast when they circle round into the coys
