Those bright white headlights

This current fad kicked off in the mid 90's and with the police being too busy sticking film in gatso cameras it goes unpunished.

Xenon's are not a problem per se, but I have particular issue with tall vehicles such as the Range Rover and the Porsche Ugly SUV thing. I used to encounter them at night on deserted unlit motorways and have to pull over to let them past before my retina imploded.
Do you not dip your mirror? It's there for a reason..
Failing that, get auto-dimming mirrors. Mine works a treat.

My Bora had an auto dimming mirror thanks very much. Problem is the inside of the car looks like it's in bright sunlight yet it's dark outside... The Range Rover lights are about the same height as the drivers head in a normal car.
 
Been blinded by age old halogens more than I have HIDs.

<3 my HIDs, could not live without them. I fancy some uprated mainbeams though, never on when other people are around so not an issue really :D

Is that with normal beams too or is the blob of light above the cutoff lines meant to be like that since they're aftermarket Xenons?

For example there is no blob of light anywhere above the cutoff on mine:

Plus you can't get dimming wing mirrors, and these sods usually manage to position themselves such that their lights are in all 3 of your mirrors, even if they are in a different lane to you.
 
When the car is clean I get flashed now and again by people who think my lights are on full beam simply because they are brighter and have had this issue for years on cars with Xenons. It's rare, but you still get it and also when you overtake you get the full beam treatment from the people who thought you were sitting behind them on full beam.

Unless it's a single carriageway in which case it's just as likely that they are flashing because they object to being overtaken.
 
I got flashed the other day (I don't even have xenons) by somewhat when I crested a hill and they were coming up the other side, they actually did have their full beams on already and then they had the audacity to flashed me ...I did not have my full beams on.

Some people are just morons, of course he was going to get a lot of light in the face, I was higher than him and he would have been looking straight up into my projectors. People like that really get on my nerves, they are just stupid, no other word for it.

Like these sheltered little 'peasants' who think you are blinding them because they have never been in a car with xenon headlights, so frantically flash you from their pink Astra MK3. Grrr. For one reason or another though I have never actually managed to get a car with xenons included in the spec, I just keep finding the ones that have everything but :p

Exactly. Early Boras had blue tinted side mirrors which also didn't help a bit.

I have aftermarket HIDs on a low-slung car. I can see the cut off lines very clearly and incoming traffic is never blinded. I've been flashed for "unknown reasons" probably about three times since fitting them.

The most recent time the cut off line was visibly not anywhere near his vision and yet he felt it necessary to blind me.

The reason I fitted HIDs is because the original halogens were crap (known problem) and pretty much all oncoming cars, even with dipped halogens could cause road tracking problems for me.

Fitting new bulbs can cause your headlights to go a little bit out of alignment as not all bulbs are identical. Might be worth checking this hasn't happened to you.

More annoying, for me, was when I replaced the Ushio H1 bulbs in my Cefiro with the Halfords extreme brilliance, they were no brighter but the cut off line was fuzzier.

I have mainbeam on also. You can see the Xenon cutoff :) (Xenon only at 1min50ish and 2min45)

I think most of the dazzling is just caused by inconsiderate drivers - by that I mean those who think that they can do what they like to their vehicles but not bother doing the job correctly.
If you're going to fit after-market HID's then you should only be doing so with projector lenses (the amount of people who do it with reflectors.....they should be shot).
Even if you've got the projector lenses you should then go and get them aligned.

I've fitted after-market HIDs to my Octy vRS behind projector lenses.
The day I fitted them I went to my local garage and paid to have them correctly aligned.
I've been flashed once in the six months I've been using them.
