GDC Sony press conference.

Jack Trenton stated Sony alone have 20 Games coming this year.
Something like 30x 3rd parties already signed up too.

E3 is bound to have a big surprise as well but with this, the 3DTVs releasing and games for that with hopefully a release date for GT5 Id say Sony are going to own E3 this year.

Price
It will be interesting to see how they price this seperatly for people wanting different configs and that maybe already have the EYE.

Move Ball Controller £25 - £40 each? (2x required for some games)
Analogue Controller £20 - £30 each?

Also I wonder if they will incorporate it with 3DTV games as it may be seen as a health/safety risk or not comply to some stupid regulation?

The Patent for this will be totally different, if anything Sony woill have this patented that IT cant be copied never mind this infringing on Nintendos.

Surely this has to be infringing on some sort of patent, it's basically an exact rip of the wii remote and nunchuck is it not?

Its only like the wii its function, not how its done, so its a non issue TBH, plus unlike the wii stuff Move can use gesture and voice control, face/sex/age detection and has the ability to put "you" on screen. Its more like an advance wiimote combined with Natal but using the move for 3d location rather than another camera.

2 required for some games? And you have to buy the analogue one separate?
Sod that! If you got the wand and the analogue together I might get one but not if you have to buy each one.
I'd only be interested in them for shooters and there's no way i'd spend loads just for that.

Didnt they say the analogue controller was optional and it would be used along with more traditional FPS games, which they demonstrated.

The $100 pack they mentioned was:
1x Wand
1x Game
1x PS3 Eye

Take the wii as example, oh yeah it was this great family way to play games.
But you needed at least 2x wands and 2x nunchucks.
People got milked for extra controllers.

MOVE
If some games require 2x wands/lollipops then well I guess most people buying the technology will buy at least 2x for 2 player fun anyways.

This is the same as the Wii, Sony people will get milked for extra controllers. I seem to recall at the last show the role of sub-controller was handled by using a dual shock (one handed), now they have added the subcontroller instead (it is not clear of people unwilling to fork out for it can use the dual shock).

Also one site I saw pointed out there is some extra connector underneath the Wand, I bet this is for an addon of sorts (i.e. more milking)

Personally I hated the way the DS3 was used in the Resident Evil 5 demo. I'm much happier they've brought a new device and even more so that it's wireless.

Think I'll grab a Natal unit, more for media centre control more than anything.

Hopefully it's USB and someone will do some magic to make it work on PC.

I'll probably get this :) Yeah I agree that the nintendo Wii gets pretty expensive when you buy extra controllers, battery packs and chargers.

I'm a bit concerned that it isn't deviating from Nintendo's Wii controls enough. The eye-toy & ball is just a different way of detecting motion from what I can see. Natal looks far more innovative and ground-breaking.

I think it's in the name and the design - Sony are playing it extremely safe. Playstation Move isn't a name that sounds like it would take on the world by storm, and the design could easily be mistaken for third-party Wii controls. If it's got very little to no latency issues (it didn't seem to display any at all in prototypical demonstrations over the last year or so) then I will reserve my judgement for a little while longer.

Why are people going on about 3D games so much? In particular Mr. Latte? Cannot wait for the day my PS3 is not able to play the latest games as my TV doesn't support 3D.

Seems like a retarded stratagy to me.

This new move controller looks fun though.

All these gadgets and gizmos look wonderful when demostrated but when they get into the hands of the public, it'll all go boobs up, I bet.

Think thats the idea, just think if a game is going to use motion controls which is easier? Make a game using Move and Wii that seem to work about the same, or concentrate on gesture control for one system? Im guessing 3rd party devs like the idea of move being like WM+ as it makes the job of porting far easier, thats why TW11 and the new EA fitness are for Wii/PS3 motion control only.
Like i said all the "cool" Natal stuff like voice control, gesture control for menus etc have been demoed already by Sony and infact a couple of games already use gesture and voice control. I see far more uses for Move than i do for Natal in a core gamer kind of way, party games Natal looks like it could be fun, much like the eyetoy was but for use in "serious" games i cant see it cutting it as the main control method.

The problem with being too 'wii' like, is everyone has a Wii..

I think this and Natal are really not well conceived, it's going to depend wholly on how they market/promote and support the technology, we all know the PS Eye like the 360's Vision camera amounted to squat, and it was dropped quicker then a hot potato..

I'm prepared to wait and see, I like the casual side of the Wii, and would play Wii style games on the 360 or PS3, but only if they have the same sense of fun that can be had with mates.

Bottom line, I don't see the differentiator with Move that attracts a new userbase, nothing there that looks remotely like tempting a Wii owner to buy another console, the Move controller is pretty ugly/bulky and utilitarian to look at, compared to the aesthetics of a Wiimote, it lacks massive WAF factor, something I'm sure the tiny Wii had in spades.

What it could do with (to be a little different) is make use of sound recognition. Crazy taxi used it (not sure if anything else did) on eyetoy and ps eye is just as capable if not more so. Could be a useul feature if implemented corrently to stand out from the wii.

Its already doing that, people are missing the augmented reality stuff that has been shown, so sayin "its just like the Wii" are not quite correct. The only thing like the wii is that you have a controller to point at the screen that does motion sensing, all the rest is different, and one this has that the wii doesnt is HD graphics lol.

I hope it is like the Wii tbh, had no issue with the controller just the **** graphics.
