EVGA Hybrid GTX 275/GTS 250

Antec900, I think he is just concerned that if you get the GTX275, you won't be making an informed decision...
and anyway, why spend that much money when you could get something much better for the same price anyway ay?

Antec900, welcome to the forums :) I wouldn't worry too much about people like Ravenxx2. He's probably just having a bad hair day :p Unfortunately, he won't be the last of his type you'll encounter. Thankfully though, I think well over 95% of forum members here are very nice people so don't take things to heart :)

Yea i understand solo and thanks.

I have been on this forum two days now and i get someone like yourself making some very useful comments, well done to you!

Do you treat all first timers like this? Or is it just ure immature self comming out.

I've seen a few of his posts, most of them are like the one he gave you. Leads me to think that he/she/it has probably been molested/bullied and now it's letting the anger out over the net. What a mess.

To answer your question, i'd wait until Fermi comes out and then decide what you want to do. You'll see a lot of 2-series cards on various auction sites in about 3 weeks so just hold your horses for a bit.

No mug here... Im nvidia all the way for me.

Maybe i shouldnt sell the 9800's for now and wait for FERMI.

cheers all

Yes, wait. Stay away from the current generation of nvidia. However, nobody knows when you will be able to buy fermi and when you can, how much it will be.

brand loyalty

That makes no sense. They're a business they only want your money.

It makes far more sense to buy the best on offer for you money. Be it nvidia, ati, intel or amd brand loyalty should not come into it unless you enjoy getting a stale deal.

I.e, core i7 is the way to go for high end right now. Should amd come out with something faster and I'm upgrading at the time, my new stuff will be from amd.

Hes got a good point!

also ati drivers anit the best but isnt bad! i run a 20" monitor and a 42" 1080p tv at the same time easly

If he wants Nvidia, let him have Nvidia. It's his money after all. Although I would highly recommend the Ati 5850, it's best wait for the GTX400 series, they should be more price friendly then the current GTX200 series.

Thanks for comments and the support.

Last summer i brought a new 775 system from a socket 939 one, performance was amazing for me obviously. As im not aware of certain gains/performace on each G/Card and CPU's we could be here all day stated what would be the best for what use and money. So i went ahead and brought a system which i thought was nice, had a lot of good reviews, more than bad i would say, for most of all what i would be using for, a bit of photo/graphics rendering and gaming.

I brought:
XFX 780i Mobo
4gb corsair dominators
2x 9800gt's
Corsair 750 TX PSU
2x 1TB Spinpoint F3's
And a youve guessed it a Antec900 case.

As you guys have said, looks like more people would buy the ATi cards at the moment, but im game for Nvidia ;) (dont take it personally ;)) hence my setup.

I will listen to you guys as you probably tested used both Nvidia and ATi cards more than ive had hot crossed buns so ill take your word for it.

Fermi i will wait for and Fermi i should buy.. if the price is right of course ;) Dont think i could wait for the 400* series, im inpatient in that sense. What would fermi in Sli power wise hold for?? Think my Corsair PSU be up for it??

All the best

Cheers

Where did you bring all that from?

Do you have a magic box that conjures up computer hardware? When it's finished conjuring, you bring it from the box and assemble it?

Then when it's in your PC room, you've brought it from the room your magic box is in?

On a serious note, do you seriously think ATi would still be in business if they sold hardware that didn't work like all those nVidia fanboys make out?

That card in your original post is beyond a joke.

Point and laugh territory.

If you bought it, you'd be legally classified as a mug.

Seems like you edited... As ive said you guys know best obviously, i was only asking the question. No need to be mugging anyone off, just because your the geek and im not.

cmon guys, i hate when people get labelled fanboys. so what if a person likes a particular brand, its called brand loyalty which usually comes from good experience, if the guy wants nvidia then help him out rather than having a dig... but anyway if you are that struck on nvidia then id definately wait for the fermi cards to be released. because if youre still not convinced then you should still find a slight price drop in the card youre looking at...

It becomes a problem when these "brand loyal" people become blind to value.

That EVGA Hybrid card is simply a joke. You can get a 5870 for that price which would demolish a GTX275 in performance terms.

In terms of graphics cards, the brand itself doesn't really have any bearing on functionality, so it doesn't make any sense to be brand loyal as such.

It's like buying a 32" TV over a 50" (ignoring space restrictions) when they're both the same price, but the 50" is higher res and has better image quality, just because you "like" the brand of the 32" TV.

Give the guy a break kyle, we can't all be as good as you with grammer :p

Grammar. ;)

Let's hope he realises that it's "bought" and not "brought" though, eh? He isn't going to realise the difference if it's not pointed out.

I'm ragging on the card mostly really.

You're going to buy what you want to buy ultimately, however I'd hate to see some one waste money on the card you were looking at when you can get either a 5850 for less money, which is still a lot more performance, or a 5870 for the same money which blows that card away.

Sometimes if you're not blunt, the message doesn't get across so well.

One of the main points is to ignore the fanboys telling you to keep going with "brand loyalty" because being brand loyal is only helping these faceless corporations get richer when they're selling lacklustre hardware.

Point taken brother, why do you think i signed up in the first place ;)
