I want a 2nd one! New mobo etc inc, might aswell get new pc for em!
so tempted.
I hate it when it dont have the cellophane wrapping. as in the past, i have had 2 cards that looked like they we're used, and they had problems with there fans.
Overclockers. do these get sent to you with the cellophane wrapping ?
Cheers.
They arrive with no cellophane wrap at all from Asus.
So tempted...
on a side note that graphic on the box of the horse looks awesome![]()
So running nice and smooth then ?
Did you notice any jaggies ?
Any problems with long loading. and have you tried 1920 x 1200 ?
Well that's if you have the screen for that res
Cheers.
I've got a bit of screen tear, but I imagine that's down the game more than the graphics card. I haven't tried it with V-Sync yet, that might help it. It plays really really smooth.
I can try it at 1920x1080 on my 37" TV if you'd like me too?
No cellophane wrapper was on the box, as confirmed by FatBoy, but the anti-static bag the card was in was sealed.
ASUS 5850 runs 21% at idle (really quiet) and rises to about 30% at full load (audible but still quiet). I suggest you download MSI Afterburner, overclock, and set your own fan profile to suit your ears.
Afterburner is far better than the Smartdoctor app ASUS supply for overclocking/overvolting. As a starting point, set voltage to 1.2v, core to 950Mhz and memory to 1175. These speeds should be easily achieved, and the card will be faster than a 5870.
I think you will find that ASUS packaging is superior to any other 58xx manufacturer. It certainly the card nice and safe, and has a quality feel all of the others lack.Cheap bar-starssssss![]()
CCC will enable overclocking upto 1100core/1300mem but it does not allow voltage control. You will need to use Afterburner or ASUS Smartdoctor to increase the voltages and get above 900core.I will be trying these settings with my two Asus 5850 soon.
I take it that with the Asus you can use the ATI CCC or MSI Afterburner to set the clocks & voltage without changing the fan or any other settings?
Warranty is the full 3 years. For the first year use the Retailer (OcUK) and for remaining years use ASUS direct. You can use ASUS for the fisrt year as well if you like. Before I click buy on a 5870, is the warranty 3yrs as stated in the listing? and who deals with Asus RMA's?
Like to check beforehand as I was caught out when I bought a X1900XTX (Connect 3D), enough said...
Cheers
snip....ASUS support is pretty good.
Ordered mine Saturday night, I spent hours & hours reading reviews etc, all reviews say it's quiet, plus the heat is extracted out the back compared to a custom cooler which keeps the heat inside the case.
So happy because I had the cash to purchase the Sapphire Vapor-X 5870 for £350, saved £130 which can go towards upgrading to a lower wattage CPU + 890FX.
5850 clocked past 5870 speeds for £220, I laugh at the money I've saved.![]()
