haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaha :D

I dont understand how this happened, you should have easily have realised the floorboards were in danger of falling apart as they will flex massively if that weak. I certainly wouldnt have wanted to stand on them!

Its his obligation to keep it safe, but only if he knew about it. You can for example just leave the bath overflowing for a week, then blame it on him. Must have been some long term, or high volume water problems for that.

Don't think you have any right to sue him if it was your mates fault it got wet.

i have trouble believing this tbh
highly unlikely (unless you were drunk) that you wouldn't react and be able to leap from the collapse
even more unlikely is the floorboards, joists and vinyl flooring covering (or whatever it may be covered by) being so susceptable in one point that you actually fell through
if there had been a water leak over a period of time long enough that it had managed to rot the timbers, the tell tale signs would have been there; you'd have seen it on the ceiling of the room below, you'd have heard it, you'd have smelled it, you'd have notcied it when the floor was trodden on and it is more likely that only your foot would have gone through a board that was rotten
not saying it can't happen but without photographic evidence, i do find it hard to believe. i mean, come on, the joists went, you fell (say) 2 metres and you only had a few cuts and bruises? count yourself lucky if this is a true story

I fell through a mates loft once, we bodged the celing hard as he was moving out in a couple of days. And I mean, we stuck paper over it and painted it.
Painful though, being the helpful person he is he just stood and laughed :D

Landlord can't kick someone out because the bathroom floor gave way, threaten to sue him and i'm sure he'll see sense and even pay the repair.

take photos of everything; the damage to the bathroom floor, damage to you, ie cuts and bruises. If he tries to evict, get in touch with a solicitor, either yours or your parents should be able to help. Just make sure you have evidence from what happened.

I'd be down the CAB to get some decent support if I were them. Or contact the uni to see if they offer support to students in private accommodation in cases like this, I know mine does.
