*** Final Fantasy XIII ***

Just ran around Chapter 13 a bit and realised how weak my team is. Getting beaten silly just trying to run between the missions!!

Just got this last night and spent a couple of hours on it. Just got to the crystal lake.

First major thought is Sazh is a ****ing miserable ****. I hope he dies very soon.

The combat system also seems very complicated but I guess it's something I'll get used to.

It's the mission area I am in!!! Just running between missions 1 and 2 ran into enemies that kill me in 2 hits!! This chapter is like Jurassic Park meets Avatar, sort of, visually.

For anyone interested, here is a quick guide for farming CP quickly and easily at the start of Chapter 11.

Chapter: 11
Location: Archylte Steppe (i.e the first big open area)

When you first enter you will be shown your first Ceith stone, and there will be a save point near by. When looking at this save point, i.e facing a cliff, turn left and run along the wall.

You will soon encounter a Behemoth King, he can be easily ambushed and when killed gives 4000cp. The best way to ambush him is to stand in the little crevice to his left and then jump up the little wall, you will be out of his "danger zone" so he will not attack you, and will be very close to him allowing you to ambush him quickly.

Now the tricky part, he needs to die in a single break or within about 5 seconds of Break ending, otherwise he will shape-shift and replenish his entire HP bar.

Set up should be Commander/Commander/Ravager or Commander/Commander/Commander and your weapons should be upgraded to lv 5-10, commanders also have an ability that can insta-kill an enemy on low health which is almost a requirement if you aren't quite strong enough to finish him in a single break.

Try and chain your attacks so he stays launched for the majority of the fight.

After his inevitable demise, run back to the save point and a little past it, then turn around and head back, he will be respawned and ready to have over more CP.

Can you help me to find this place? I completed the 1st mission and activated the 2nd, and now I am a bit lost on the map as it is not clear where I started :(

Edit: Ignore, found the place but that guy is way too strong for me to beat at the moment.

Yeah it can be a bit tough, the first 5/6 times I killed him was literally only due to the commanders "kill at low hp" thing, it only works if you kill him within a single break from an ambush, they are stupidly strong otherwise and would take aaages to kill normally.

So far I've maxed out all characters main lv4 class and am working on their second, I thin I'll then call it a day with farming.

That behemoth strategy is sound and all, but if you want to make CP at that point of the game without any risk at all and much faster. Then just head to the next waypoint. The first area you enter (Mah'Habara) you can farm up until (but not including) the boxed phalanx for an average of 24k cp in around 5 minutes... using the relentless assault paradigm (Lightning, Fang, Hope)
The fights are quick and easy as the chance to get pre-emptive strikes is insanely easy, throw in a quake at the start of the fight, and all the mobs you encounter will fall in seconds. Just don't go all the way to the end at the left hand junction, or you'll run into a mob who will kill you before you enter a command. You'll no doubt see him once, but not again,. you'll know how to avoid him. He's guarding a platinum bangle btw, hence why he's nails for your team at this point.
You don't need to worry about resets, by the time you've farmed the left junction, the main path will have respawned. 150+k per half hour guaranteed, and a lot quicker than the behemoth kings.
Finish off you main characters 3 major crystarium paths and you'll find the rest of the chapter a breeze ;). Enjoy

"kill at low hp" thing,

Is this an accessory bonus, a weapon's passive ability or an upgrade?

I took Lightning, Snow and Sazh to the battle. All Level 3 Commando's. Lightning and Snow have Lvl 20 weapons and Sazh has a 15.

I came close to beating him (the air juggling helps a lot), but he always manages to have a bit of energy left and then he morphs and beats me down too quick for me to react.

The strataegy is a good one though, so easy to get a pre-emptive on him, using the ledge near him.

So do I just ignore the missions and progress to the next checkpoint to start this? Also how do you make the enemies respawn? (Fenris described how to make the Behemoth respawn by running to a certain point).

Yupyup... You can return to the plains. This part of the game is open. There's stuff here you cannot possibly kill until you have an advanced team, which you wont even fathom up until you can progress to the lvl 5 tiers. 6k a kill is great, but takes too long; even with a pre-emptive strike. Ma'Habara (Maw of the Abyss) has a better cp vs time ratio, as i say.. 5-10 minutes 25k-30k (depending on if you kill the phalanx; but he's a bitch, so wouldn't bother). It took 3 hours to get all members at their maximum in their 3 main crystarium grids.
No need to look for a respawn path... follow the path until it junctions left. by the time you've reached the end of the junction, turn back and they've already respawned.

The phalanx is just after the junction left, easily notable because it looks like a jesters hat. But the fight takes a while. so leave him, up until the point when you want to advance.

Depending on your team, you shouldn't have a problem, accessorize for physical hit, weapons with lightning or fire will be a boon, other than that you won't need to shift into another paradigm other than relentless assault. 1 lap 5 mins, there and back 8.... Nice save point conveniently placed.. I thinkl square-enix knew I was coming :p.

Ok I am going to try this tonight, if it does not work I will come back to the forum and give you verbal abuse.

Quick question,

When i try and stagger an opponent, its REALLY hard to do. I am hitting away, but their bar is depleting faster than i can attack! I can't even get them on stagger.

Why is that? Even if i have it set to RAG

Get COM to attack it first, then switch to RAV, or have a COM up all the time, makes the bar deplete slower. ;)

When you are using Ravagers, the bar increases quicker, but it also decreases quicker. Commandos and Saboteurs won't increase the bar by much, but they do make it decrease much slower. A single Ravager on their own will never be able to stagger something. Two might have trouble, even with haste (although if the bar is already half full when you switch to two RAV's, it can still work). You can only really stagger something (using just ravagers), if you have three, and even then, I've noticed that AFTER staggering, the bar decreases faster if it was staggered by just ravagers.

I usually use one COM and two RAV's. Lightning is my Commando and I have her souped up for some major damage (her strength is now about 1900, that's with very little grinding, and only just starting Chapter 13), so I prefer her to a SAB.

hehe fair do's :p

OK just done this with Lightning, Snow and Sazh in my party and got 90K CP in 30 minutes (I timed it) :) This is the best Farming strategy I have seen so far!!

It is 7 battles in sequence, most of which you can get a Pre-emptive strike on (I Reckon about 8 minutes without pre-emptive strikes and maybe 5-6 with)

3x Hoplite, 2310CP
2x Hoplite,1540CP
4x Hoplite, 3080CP
2x Cryohedron, 2380CP
3x Cryohedron + 2x Hoplite, 5110CP
3x Cryohedron, 3570CP
5x Hoplite, 3850CP

Total 21840CP

Owe you one, gonna do this for a few hours and build up my characters. I am assuming I cannot come back to this section after the game is completed?
