NHS Hospital Experience, Glenfields.

Just be glad you didn't have to go to the George Elliot Malc, bunch of morons there. Went a while back for an x-ray after a concrete barge board fell on my foot, they told me it wasn't broken and basically kicked me out, bearing in mind I could barely walk.

I went to the George Elliot in Agony with Kidney stones in 08 & sat in a Tiny waiting room crammed with sick people, It was terrible.
At times I had to leave the room as the pain was so bad but when I finally got to the Doctor he injected me with pain killer Instantly & then I told him he was an Angel. :o + :D
Compared to Glenfields it's a Dive.

I have an announcement -
I start my new job on April 20th working for NHS Clinical Governance and I will be dealing with customers who want to claim off us for bad service.
Bye bye kids.

Milton Keynes hospital needs to learn to not label people as 'being on drugs' if they canot find why a person is collapsing randomly.

Customers, is that what NHS management are calling patients now, they really do **** money down the drain.

Few complaints with Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Recieve regular treatment for my arthritis there, and it is always a quick and enjoyable (or as enjoyable as any trip to the hospital can be) experience. The staff are great, and get seen to very quickly - I've gone in for a chat with my doc a few times and then been sent to the XRay/Ultrasound department there and then and never had to wait around for very long.
My GP is in the hospital too and they are very accomodating. Yes, it takes about 9 days to get an appointment but they are very good at sorting something out if you need it. I've had to get doctors notes with a matter of urgency before and after a bit of explaining I've had them the next day even after them saying I'll have to wait 9 or 10 for an appointment.
My actual GP is terrible though.

Parking is £1.20 an hour during office hours, but cheap afterwards - which benefits those visiting. Used A&E a couple of times, it's very slow but I live in Glasgow so there are a huge amount of drunks and junkies that makes the process slow.
Food is shockingly bad though.

All in all, I'm quite happy with my hospital.

Last time I was in a NHS hospital (just to visit) the wife and me picked up the norovirus :(

I'm lucky enough to get BUPA through work, had an op in one of their hospitals in November, was brilliant, kept telling people after I'd been in a hotel :D

Even staff pay for parking, £1 a day, £5 a week, quite expensive really, take that in to a year and its like £260 (well minus holidays)....Hence me taking up biking to work soon :p

Is it me or is that REALLY REALLY cheap ???

If someone tells me I only have to pay £300 in town and I get a permenent parking spot for a year I'd bite their hand off.

If you can get in through the day they are generally alright around here, but if your unlucky enough to need to go on the night for any reason then you can be stuck for many hours. The amount of damaged drunks that end up in hospital around here are stupid :p

Its not a permanent spot tho :( we get a parking permit, and if you get a parking spot (if youre lucky enough, as parking is limited for both staff and visitors) you pay a pound a day. So if you were to get a spot each day, thats £235 a year...rather bike :p

snipidy snip snip

If I remember rightly though - that hospital is not a general hospital. I swear its one that you have to pay more for? Otherwise you would just get sent to the general hospital in Leicester city centre?

Could be wrong - but I dont think I am...

It's nice to hear someone talk about the NHS positively for once! hip hip hooray for free healthcare! ... and hope you're OK :)
