WOW, such a difference but still game feels smooth :)
 
Just as an update:

Mentioned that I would be trying my Bro's 5850 which we bought based on advice from you guys. have to say im very impressed, game runs a whole lot better + smooth now and im sure the image quality has improved.

Looks like ill be moving to the darkside for the first time since ive had a computer
 
Got it today and maximum settings throughout on 1920x1080 gives 100+ fps for 5970+5870 ... as expected!

3x1920x1080 (Eyefinity) on the 5970 only (CrossfireX for more than 2 GPUs does not work on Eyefinity) on jungle scenes generally gives approx 50 fps with stock clocks rising to 60 fps when clocked to 900/1250 - this required dropping AA to 1xMSAA, everything else on max .. this game is quite playable on Eyefinity but there are obvious hitches that are not present on a single 1920x1080 monitor.

Runs OK on my 4870 @ 1920x1080 I used to have a bit of judder but turning up anti-aliasing from 1x to 8X solved that, average 40-55fps:D
 
So happy with my GPU I brought last summer. My asus 4870X2 was a bargain!! Plays this game with ease. Ok there is no direct x 11 but after seeing on my friends pc with a 5850 I can't say im bothered about direct x 11. I can't say I really notice any difference. :)

I'm on a e8400 and 7800 gtx. All low settings and I'm getting around 10-30 fps. Looks like I'll need to upgrade my card as im getting owned constantly 'cos my game freezes in fire fights
 
Core i7 @ 4.2GHz + 5970 @ 915/1250 on Eyefinity 3x1920x1080 (I got these figures by playing the game for abit and watching fraps fps):

Settings on max with 16xAF 1xMSAA & HBAO Off 60+ fps ..
Settings on max with 16xAF 1xMSAA & HBAO On 50+ fps ..
Settings on max with 16xAF 2xMSAA & HBAO Off = 45+ fps ..
Settings on max with 16xAF 4xMSAA & HBAO Off = Slide show !
 
Is anyone else getting the prompt to 'first time' install the Microsoft VC Redist package every time they launch BC2 via Steam ? If so , aware of a fix ?

This is a bit of a noob question... :-)

I'm playing this game on a Win7, 8800gt SLI set up and want to know what FPS I'm getting.. How do I find out ?

Unless you want to play with loads of AA & AF in massive resolution, you really dont need a brand new graphics card for this. I have HBAO off and AA/AF on 2x in 1680x1050 on an 8800GT and plays perfectly (40-70fps) In multiplayer it also plays with no problems at all.

Crysis is much more graphics card dependant. I lower the resolution a bit and my FPS jumps 15-20fps
