Digital Economy Bill passed through the Lords

That's a matter of opinion to be honest. What seems fair to you might not be fair to him.

......So you want it for free? Why should you have it for free?

Everything is available for cheap, its just the fact people dont want it for cheap, because they can get it for free.

They should adapt with piracy.

Although there will be tonnes of people here saying they don't do it. I'm sure a lot of people do etc.
I'll admit when growing up i downloaded most of my music illegally, considering i was in high school i had no other choice. There have been a lot of albums i've bought due to me downloading them first, due to the higher quality of a CD. If i hadn't have heard it prior i would have never bought it?
Although i have no grown smarter and just use Spotify ;o

Avatar Grossed $2,638,344,000...

How is illegal file sharing affecting the movie industry again ?

Hmm lets see....how about after sales? And renting sales? among others.

The above figure is from Cinema sales most likely.

So because a film makes its money back from the cinema sales its fair game and anyone can get it for free now then yes?

Isnt there a tax in place that pays the entertainment industry an X amount of money for compensation against piracy? Could be wrong :D

So if that is true then we are already paying for it :D

Wow talk about twisting words, at no point did i say i wanted it for free, however you might consider £8 a fair price for an album but i might consider £5 a fairer sum.

Again! whether something is cheap is a matter of opinion and perspective if you're earning 100k a year a 20k car is cheap if you're on 20k it's a huge amount, similar applies here except this time it's dependant on disposable income and the amount of music you consume. Of course you will get some that will always go for the free option but some people simply can't afford to pay for all their music, prime example here being students.

There isn't a private copying levy in the UK, you might be confusing us with Canada or Belgium

yes

but i dont think they will cut you off straight away

they will write to you and warn you ..

so said parents, would make sure said 16 year old stops downloading pirate material

I'll be honest, this is what happened to me, I had an email from my ISP directly and they mentioned that I had obtained some files from a site...but had no 'physical' record of it...so were merely warning me.

Upto the user if they wish to risk it again

Actually I think it goes the other way. If people enjoy the downloaded film then they often go out and buy the blu ray or dvd.

Personally I dont go to the cinema because it is just stupidly over priced. I am not saying I download stuff but if poorer families cant afford it then they will view it through other means.

Or would you prefer only a section of society have the right to access this entertainment? I bet you voted for Uni fees too

Actually we didnt vote as it was just put in place whether we liked it or not. Sound familiar?

If you've got Spotify Premium gives you the option to save your playlists so they work offline (perfect for the iPhone).

That for me has pretty much killed any urge to download MP3s.

Same here. I've closed my account on the top 2 music download sites. Spotify has done enough to convince me that it is the way forward. Wish they would do the same for movies.

It does really **** me off when I'm not able to find something on Spotify but am able to download it illegally. :/

Apologies wasn't actually stating that you yourself want it for free :)

Indeed though...But it isn't upto us how much an album sells for, its either the artist (If downloading directly) or the website we're downloading from.

Students should be clever enough to use spotify and then just record the streaming media then shouldn't they :p

Or the user says sod you im off and joins another ISP.

Get serious why would people need 20mb, 50mb and soon 100mb internet if it isnt used for downloading. The ISP's arent going to grass their customers up just so they lose business.

I can't actually remember if Avatar is out on DVD yet? Over priced? Go on a cheap day then, you can see films for about £4 in some places.

A right to access entertainment? Eh? So because your poor you have to result to stealing? :p Theres cheap rental deals going everywhere, so there isn't much of an exscuse ;)

Uni Fees? No =/...And when you say Uni Fee's, what are you pointing out exactly? The fee's to go on the course? And pay for the tutors wages? And pay for the learning?
