GTX480 - Massive Availability April 6th

The only thing I would base my own opinion on atm is the fact that it`s so close to launch & there`s no proper benchmarks anywhere.....if these cards were that good they would be showing off don`t you think?....if my card was the best I`d paint my arse purple & stand on top of buildings shouting about it....their lack of boasting points to it being disappointing imo....

Yes a lot of the information is logical - but (especially true for one of the sources) they only ever show one side of the coin and attempt to gloss over the other just as potentially valid side. Only showing the side of the story that suits their agenda. So they can always fall back on the time old "but show me where I was actually wrong".

Care to explain what you mean by that, what side of the story are they ignoring exactly, and how is falling back on their time old "show me where I was wrong" a bad thing?

I'm entirely not sorry to say that SemiAccurate have been incredibly accurate, broke a massive story in "bumpgate", and has gotten dates right for tape outs, size, power, launches, retail availability, etc, etc correct, for the past almost year now just on Fermi while no other site has come close.

I also love the way you worded it " I can neither confirm nor deny".

Why does that come across as trying to sound like you work for them..........

I thought Rroff was part of the TWIWTP team at Nvidia ?

Edit: But you also seem to work at a purple shirt shop, run two company's and do some programming:

That's quite a lot to interpret Rroff.

LOL

I don't run 2 companies - I was a partner in 2 business startups but cashed out and now only do consultancy for them. I don't work for a "purple shirt" type shop, but my current employement does have some overlap with OcUK so would be considered a competitor so I can't name them on here.

Since the rule change, you are allowed to mention other shops, what you aren't allowed to do is recommend you got something cheaper at another store or if you're talking about the store, not mention what it was for how much, you are however allowed to mention stores themselves.

Seriously what is it with you guys?

The cards are not out, nobody has seen an actual card, nobody has seen proper, in depth independant benchmarks yet already most of you are fighting with each over about how its obviously terrible, its obviously super hot, its definately going to cost £2000, ATi definately pwnzers it, blah blah.

Its as if you WANT it to be crap.

Whats wrong with just waiting until it comes out and then discussing fact rather than conjecture from dubious sources?

Even the most die-hard ATi fanboy should WANT this card to be awesome - because if it is, the prices of the ATi stuff will surely come down

Is it cool to hate Nvidia or something?

It will be crap, the lack of epeen waving by NV of it's new kit is all to apparent, when has NV been this subdued over a new highend release...

Well just got my RMA through for a motherboard...will keep the proceeds and decide if these are worth it when released.

Fox, Nvidia have said Fermi is not ready for release and wont be up to scratch until summer 2011  What seems to get on everybody's **** is the fact you cant have a conversation about the card without some Nvidia nut case spouting on about how great the card will be, its simple just going to be that way until Nvidia fix the cockup with a redesign.

They haven't said that at all... they've said they won't have a complete product range out til then.

I've rarely seen an nVidia nut going on about how great the card is on here anyhow, infact it would be refreshing if one did - its almost entirely anti-nVidia nuts (and most of them seem curiously pro ATI) hating.

Yes the same conclusion the CEO of Nvidia came to.

Nvidia CEO,

“Q2 2011 (summer 2011) is going to be the quarter when Fermi is hitting the full stride"

For me, It's ATI owners not wanting to then have slower cards and want to continue to have the best. It's only natural I suppose, maybe for a while they will have the slowest, but when ATI revise with the 5890 they will then have the fastest again, then nVidia refreshes etc etc etc.
