Metro: 2033, trailer

I added my key via steam yesterday & it pre installed it for me. Tried it just after midnight & its opened it up to play, yay. But have early start at work tomorrow so need to go get some sleep now, boo

Just spend about 2 hours on it. Runs alright on very high at 1920x1080 with 16xAF and AA set to AAA (dx 11 mode with tess and advanced DOA OFF)

The graphics are pretty good but the gameplay is abit hmmm atm lol. Need to keep at it and see how it turns out with this one

Any-one know what X AA "AAA" is, is it 4?

Need some sort of graphics guide for this game, how do you turn off individual things such as tess and DOA?

This game with everything on high AAA and 16AF DX11 pritty much brings my system to its knees [email protected] and 5970.

The only way I can get decent FPS is to overclock my GPU to stupid amounts, which in return makes the fans spin at silly noises. Even then I still drop down to 24FPS and get average of 35FPS.

Dont get me wrong this game runs super smooth at 35FPS, you dont really need anymore, it tends to be bright lighting that slows down the FPS.

Turning it on DX10 gets me above 70FPS, however even in DX11 with tess I fail to see the difference in peoples clothing etc.

i checked last night after it unlocked at midnight, must admit its the first game i have bought that makes me think wow all that money i spend has paid off at last ( visualy) looks to me like a mega updated cryostasis engine.

think i'll take some stills of closeup heads in dx10 and then dx11 and see if i don't mind the diff too much and drop it down to dx10 mode as mines a pretty sluggish @ ev thing max dx11 mode 1920x1200

Yeah that would be good if you could

They say turning V-sync on in the .cfg helps boost fps as does changing "r_gi 0" to "r_gi 1".

I think DX11 mainly creates a better atmosphere with smoke and lighting etc

probably makes a lot of people go "****, should have spent more money"

Stuttering mess

Radeon 4870 x2
Intel Q9550
X-Fi Sound
Win7 64 bit
6GB Ram

Even on 1680 and normal settings, when I get to the bit where you're attacked just before you go outside, it becomes a stuttering slideshow.
It sounds like it may be audio related.

I'm going to try putting my processor and graphics card to stock settings.

Anybody aware of any problems running this game with ati cards?

Its the DOA and tesselation which absolutely annhilates the FPS in this game at a decent res. To turn them off in game theres an option saying "dirext x 11 advanced" or something at the top of the video screen, select that after you have enabled dx11 and turn them off for a far smoother experience

What does DOA do?

All I've heard is that it just flat out doesn't run that well on ATI hardware, another Nvidia bought title.

I used to do 3d gaming years ago before I got a flat screen monitor. I'm going back to it now that the new 120hz HD monitors are out so I'll be going back to Nvidia for that anyway.

This has been the first and probably last ATI card I will ever buy.
