Bickering is a fact of life, It's human nature, Get over it!
Seems some people think you can only share each others opinions these days!

And before anyone says it's only GFX cards SO WHAT! what's important to you may be insignificant to others, and if it's that unimportant to you please don't trouble yourselves with posting pointless dribble.

Of course everyone bickers. Just the bickering in here is particularly heated and insulting, travelling in especially small circles with some genuinely troubling brand loyalty. Occaisionally when everyone calms down for a second some information of merit to those of us with an interest in computer componentry gets through, and we can have a chat about it. I admit my contribution was little better, but perhaps if enough posts like it crop up those dedicated few will realise what arses the rest of the community think they are and chill the **** out.

The irony is they are now getting the same from ATI - spending £100s for cards that are overkill for DX9 games, very few games use DX10 and by the time DX11 hits proper the 5 series simply won't be upto the job - if games really did use tessellation proper they'd just sit in a corner and cry :D

Its no wander the people who actually have a clue left this forum a long time ago when we have threads like this.
Way to go kids. Be proud.

But laughing at Nvidia is fun because they (the company, not the fans) are so full of themselves and act like they are the best.

Ahh, the days when the overclockersuk was a nirvana of technical peace and tranquillity :p the old boys are still around, they can never leave Muhahaha...Muhaha...

Most of those barely make good enough use of DX11 to justify it.

Well .....

As expected, the DirectX 11-compatible ATI 5000 series runs rings around everything NVIDIA currently offers. SSAO isn't a technology that GeForce products handle very well, and thus far it seems that aside from CUDA technology there is little advantage to be gained over the Radeon 5000-series. If gaming is the primary purpose for a discrete graphics card, then you will want to consider that nearly all new video games will be developed with SSAO and other DirectX 11 extensions. These features make it difficult (and sometimes impossible) to enjoy the game on non-compliant graphics hardware.

5770 > GTX 285 under DX11 :)

The real clincher will be overclocking performance, and how safe NVidia have played things with stock clocks. It seems clear the 480 will be faster than 5870, and the 470 should be pretty close too. If it is possible to get a further 150MHz out of Fermi, ATI may begin to feel the pain.

But, I doubt there is anything NVidia can do to match the overall price/performance value of the 5850.

This speculation is all pointless, we will not know how good/bad these cards are until we get retail cards with released drivers and proper reviews in real world benchmarks. All people seem to want to do is read some post from some supposed guru then make assumptions based on very little or no fact, NOBODY actually knows apart from Nvidia.

Oh wow I so wanna spend £300+ for a bit of ambient occlusion and some other incidental effects... totally worth it :D

Either you are blind, or just incredibly bad at reading prices:

As opposed to:

I really wonder which one is better worth spending my money on, hmmmmm ....

the 5770 costs £119 as far as I can tell, you can get a 5850 for £220, or two 5770s for £240, entirely up to the person thats buying.

Your comments are much more appropriate if redireced towards games with Physx and Nvidia cards though :)

What £30 for some realistic physics effects?, sounds a reasonable deal to me - or effectively nothing extra for me as I already have a decent nVidia card setup.

Am pretty sure Nvidia is going to feel the pain once ATi drops their prices, gonna be like deja vu.

Two Geforce 260s really cost £30? Wow, point me to where I can buy them and I gladly will.

For the record, I got my 5770s for nothing after RMAing a dead 4870 and selling my other. Didnt cost me £300 as you happen to think it does. I probably wouldnt have done it if my primary 4870 hadnt been heating up to over 100 degrees and spazzing out at stock clocks, but I am glad I did.
