*****The Official Aliens Vs Predator 3*****

Cheers. I guess that is one reason it is lower priced. For say three players, the developers making money on 3 *£17 is better than 1 * £29.99 where the game is sold as second hand to the two or more purchases when theoriginal buyer has finished the game.

Just completed it. Although I could only run it at dx10 level, I was nevertheless quite impressed by the graphics. I think I appreciated the visuals more playing as the Predator or Alien than the Marine. However, neither of those campaigns interested me enough to play right through, so it was only the Marine story I saw all the way through. Worth 13.99, just. 6 - 7 / 10. Not sure which.

Only just started playing this. Done about an hour of the Marine campaign.

Graphically I think its really good. The motion blur is very cool. I did think I'd poo myself much more than I did when the first alien appeared so maybe a tad let down there although it still makes you jump.

I'm playing through STALKER Prip as well so its nice to have something different to do rather than wandering around for hours looting the bodies of dead eastern europeans. :)

Anyone know how to change the FOV, really annoying having it so low on a 16:9 screen?

Agree with the above, there is a lot of tension building up at the start of the marine campaign waiting for your motion sensor to kick in, and then finally meet your first alien, but it isn't all that scary (compared to say, creepy sections in Painkiller, FEAR or RTCW).

edit: Just completed Marine campaign, thoughts below:

+Better than I expected given the reception the game got
+Good use of the franchise lore, it felt like it fit with the movies
+Graphically decent, general Doom 3 feeling to it
+Good framerate 80fps+ with the exception of the alien queen bit with all the flames which dropped to around 50fps
+Good price £3.75 I think it was.
+Authentic sound effects

-VRAM usage seems pretty excessive, putting textures on High (not the highest available) took it to the 1.25GB limit of my card, I think you 'need' at least 2GB VRAM for this game (to be fair it didn't affect performance that much)
-Marine campaign took up 35% of the game (6 missions out of 17 by my calculation) yet only 3.3hrs long, so it is a fairly short game
-Not enough sections with AI squadmates
-Bit lacking in variety of weapons/monsters
-Could have used a couple more epic defense scenarios involving turrets etc
-Can't change FOV
