480GTX Vs HD 5870

Haha, good response. I do have an interest in components.

Anyway I am sure you will enjoy your traditional rubbing of new NV hardware on your groin whilst surrounded by 12 screens of the NV CEO giving speeches and your fellow brethren joining you in mutual pleasure :D

someone else does this on release day too? Awesome.

Nothing new. I don't care if the 480 is 25% more powerful than a 5870, at a 50% premium. This has and will always be the case. The fastest single GPU will always demand a premium. Thats it.

Not everyone breaks everything down into bang for buck and starts analysing numbers. Not everyone needs to. I have always had a good experience with NV therefore I will continue to use their cards (while performance is competitive). Simple.

I'm sure the ATi boys do too :p

I'm a fanboy but not in GPUs - road bike groupsets (Shimano all the way!), and yes I'd gladly rub a Di2 STi on my groin.

youd rub an STi on your groin? STi = sexually transmitted disease right? :P

I really should stop being a nvidia only buyer, and an asus only buyer. And a corsair only buyer. But in all the systems that I have personally built, they have all worked fine, or its been down to my lack of knowledge, or **** ups or w/e that has broken them. Systems my mate has bought has been a different matter though lol. I might step away from asus on my next build though, haven't felt the love from my striker II extreme....stupid pos board with its rubbish cooler than i should re paste but im too lazy to take apart my whole rig to do it. I would say i might even step away from nvidia if the timings right, but I know I will just wait for the release of the GPU's that I want to buy the system lol.

Also seeing friends with ATI, and they have more issues/weirder issues than me, so i "feel" like ati has more problems.

I just don't understand why Nvidia wants so much money for GTX480 - as long as those £420 price tag rumors are true...
£350 would be more acurate I think - If 5870 is for £295, why not make 480 for max £350?

Thats an STD.
STI is sexually transmitted infection. :p
How much do you get paid from the publishers then? ;)

FS, I even thought that, and went "must remember to type that" to myself, and then got it wrong LSMMTUAFIMC (putting that out there, for those who havent heard it).

on OCUK 5870 is £310 up to £398?

So by that reasoning, your saying at most £450, although if we take more of a mid range of the prices lets say £360, your reasoning gives about £410?

Where did you hear £420 anyway? I thought most people were going with 299 and 399 for the 470 and 480 respectively, but then at launch they will obv be more like 399/499 due to no stock.

I am a critic for a very popular online gaming review site, so I am more than qualified.

Given that your input to graphics cards debates consist of either arse kissing other Nvidia haters by typing "+1" or generally trolling like some frustrated teenager with esteem issues I somehow doubt your analysis of computer games holds much weight.

lol wtf...where the hell did that come from???? just because i said if those benchies are true then the 5870 gets hammered, you take a dig at me? are you right in the head mate?? if they are true then all i have said is the truth, dude you dont give someone jip just because they said something(like what i said)about a graphics card. i like ati over nvid because nvid are shady....you might aswell start going nvid because that move you just pulled was bigtime shady

dont worry as far as I have seen he never really has a positive word to say if its Nvidia related, signature says it all.

I agree however, its not for someone else to make coment on a personal preference.

It could be argued that most of his posts are dull, repetitive and boring :D

I must admit though, never before have I witnessed such a devide between two different GPU manufacturer camps with arguments/bickering guaranteed to erupt everytime a new GPU post is created.

For those of you that have been in this/other forums for a longer than me, has it always been this way? Or has it got a lot worse of late?
