Current gen consoles peaked? and are you ready for the next gen?

Wii Sports wasn't bundled in all regions - certainly not Japan, and possibly not the US but don't quote me on that.

Tetris is widely quoted as being the bestselling game evar, but that also includes the copies bundled with the original Gameboy.

The game is included as a pack-in game with the Wii console in all territories except Japan,

yes and yes

need them to support 1080p native with decent amounts of AA

PC games (say Just Cause 2) - look far sharper at high detail at 1900 in the demo than on the XBOX

you won't get much of a rig for £149 !

all I'm saying is that consoles should move on - 90% of TV sets are now 1080p- more and more peop[le are watching higher percentages monthly and yearly of HD content - I think the consoles need to move with this

you could argue it wouldn't take much of a re-design

I mean the 360 and PS3 are quite powerful CPU wise, just limited (vs new PCs) in their GPU capabilities

Most people don't care about 1080p though, they'd rather save their money and continue gaming at 720p. If they cared that much they'd have forked out for a PC instead of a £149 console.

I own a half decent PC and prefer playing on my console, graphics aren't everything after all. For example Uncharted 2 and Final Fantasy XIII have supplied far more entertainment than my PC has in a long time and they're both 720p. I'd rather they bided their time and made a real upgrade to their systems rather than making me fork out another £300 for a resolution upgrade.

agreed but some new releases aren't even HD .....

By not HD, I'm guessing you mean below 720p resolution. But I have to ask...What does that matter? The games that are below that resolution are generally great still. Why does resolution matter so much to you?

I mean Final fantasy 13 runs at 576 on Xbox 360... Yet it looks pretty amazing.

You should focus less on the numbers, and more on the end product.

must say....

i've never loaded a game on PS360 and thought..... crikies, it's not HD.
i expect games to look good on console and they do.

I have

but I'm just used to PC games looking so sharp, I mean a given title on PC @ 1900 with 4xAA looks amazing compared to a 600 or 720p console varient

I have to caveat all of this ... all multiplayer games I play on the 360

I also have a PS3 and a Wii, so I'm no fan-boy - I just want my cake and eat it

perhaps its more noticeable as I play most of my games on a 24 inch Dell monitor - so I'm close up - as I prefer playing (even console games) games on that vs my 42 inch Plasma as I just prefer a smaller but closer screen.

I load up bad company and think "crikee jagies galore" but its not a fair comparison comparing it to the PC's version, since my 360 is worth a fraction of what the PC is worth... and its a completely different experience on the console, you're also paying for user-friendliness.

You're inevitably comparing a far newer PC setup to a console thats cost fraction of t he price of the rig you had BEFORE this one playing whatever game.
Its just pointless.

Iv had my 360 under 2months, PC doesnt really get used for games now.
I'd rather just settle on the console and stick to having all the ease of use of it, without the constant need of upgrades and tweaks etc.
The 360 graphics are at a decent enough level and framerate now, the one thing that would be brilliant over all other things would be AA, not a res upgrade. But even then... it doesnt ruin the fun of the games.

I would love it if they had at least 4xAA in console games. Think thats all it needs really in the graphics department, just a bit of smoothing out.

I love to game on PC at a sweet resolution with high AA. However these games are all single player. For me I prefer the multiplayer gaming experience of Live and PSN. You can just play with more mates both locally and online without the need for them to essentially be computer savvy and have an amazing comp.

Also I actually preferring playing FPS on console now, seriously.

Yea dont get me wrong, The odd SP game I would get on PC but nothing really catches me eye nowadays, purely to play at higher res with AA, I imagine Ill always do the half-life episodes on PC.

But at the moment BC2 on 360 is better than any FPS experience I have had in a long time on the PC, massive factor of that is that my mates would rather just have a cheap console and sacrifice the graphics slightly for a fraction of the price overall and the guaranteed user friendliness, iv now joined them and cant see me changing my mind.
Bugger the mouse + keyboard for now, I'd rather play with my mates and spend far less money.

There's no way in God's Earth we're going to get a new Sony or MS console any time soon unless one decides to release an iterative updated one (2GB memory, faster processor and 100% BC).

MS despite making some money from the 360 to date are 7+ Billion dollars down from the whole xbox venture and Sony have lost more money to date on the PS3 than they made on the PS2 ($5b or so and more than MS lost on the Xbox 1) so now both are making money they will want a big return over the next 4+ years.

This generation has a long way to go.

Personally Id wish Sony finally get off their backside and have a new facelifted front end.
It helped X360 imensely and if they then allowed folder creation, folder thumbnails and better ways for users to file and arrange their media.

This would be like an upgrade on its own and no doubt it will come eventually perhaps with even 3DTV support for menus?

Well with Nintendo pushing out the DS2 (or whatever it will be called) later this year/early 2011 then I doubt they are planning a new Wii any time soon.
