I'm stopping working for at least 2 months (probably 4 months). Thinking about the wonderful ways I can spend my MASSES of time off. Which of the below should I do? I will accept 'percentage answers' so feel free to say 50% (1), 50% (8) or something!
Here's my choices of stuff I'm seriously considering ..
1) Attempt to write a (fiction) book. Never done before. Chance of giving up half way through = 98%. Chance of it ending up anything but awful <2%
2) Watch loads of TV, all series of Prison break, house, dexter, a load of other stuff I've never seen but told is great.
3) Attempt to write a indie computer game. Never done before (but have done lots of programming). Chance of giving up half way through = 98%. Chance of it ending up anything but awful <2%
4) DIY around the house and getting the garden into shape. Its not bad at the moment, but could getting looking awesome like a show home??
5) Get my DAS license for a big 'proper' motorbike (costs £580 and then £4000 to buy the bike I want - money I don't really have so putting myself into debt without a job?)
6) Beers, curry, world cup prep, world cup viewing and analysing with, er, more beers!! Full time!!
7) Get ultra fit by doing exercise every day and eating like a hippy
8) Try and set up some internet business selling something (dunno what). Chance of giving up half way through = 98%. Chance of it ending up anything but awful <2%.
9) Play all the PC games I have failed to complete that really were very good. For example I only put 2 hours into 'mass effect' and then stopped for some reason don't know why -- go back to it?
10) Go and do that 180 mile walk right across Britain (I forget what its called but its basically right across the lakes etc)
11) Self teach professional qualifications (eg PRINCE II) and take exams (needs wodja)
So - what would YOU do out of the above if you've got time coming out of your ears ..??
1 + 3 + 8 = pointless, you knwo you will fail.
2 + 9: also a waste of free time, a little TV in the evenings now and then fine
5) you don't want to be in debt...
Others don't need to be an exlcusive choice and a combination would seem best:
4) DIY, an excellent opertunity you may nto have when working.
6) Not every night, but once or twice a week this should be done!
7) I would deifntiely use this opertunity to do some fitness.
10) Definitely, put this as your goal after doing some fitness training from 7.
11) Yes. DOn't be a lazy bum. Show employees how maturely you spent your time to furhter your skills. This can be your so called day job. Part time, no stress.
EDIT: as others have said, I would travel with such an opertunity.
