or is it a crap idea and i should hang my self for even thinking about it! (drama queen)

Im just reformatting My hard drive (3rd time this year due to problems which are now sorted) -_- I am sick to death of having to reinstall/re-download everygame eachtime i reformat :( At the moment i have 1Tb hard drive + a 500Gb for backup (i copy my user folder over to there once every month)
Would it be a good idea to buy 2 small yet fast and reliable hard drives (320Gb?) and run them in a RAID. then when i reformat and install windows 7 (on the 1tb) My games will still be there on the RAID drives... would that work or am i being a total Thicky? Ive never done raid before -_- so im a total N00b. That way i wont have to keep downloading/installing the games/Mods and ill also increase performance with the RAID setup :). Or like i say am i being a thicky.
for E.g two of these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-342-WD or http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-130-WD&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=768

P.s im only useing two small HDD's as i read somewhere AGES ago two smaller drives in raid work better than two larger drives in raid. Is that right?

There's very little difference in speed between the smaller and larger drives. Try to get a drive based on the new 500GB platters, like the Samsung F3.
What you can do is partition off your drive, so that the volume is limited to only the outer (fastest) parts of the platter.

Only consideration is that since you run a high risk of losing all the data, and thus hopefully won't be storing too much, You may as well use the smallest drives possible and save some money.

Tbh id only be installing games on the two hard drives :) + Steam so i wouldnt need much more than 640Gb (thats two 320Gb) which would come to around £80. Only problem is my 1Tb would be going to waste just having Winodws 7 and a few programs and pics installed on it :( But anyway the set up i described would work ok do u think?
