hehe, thats what i kinda miss from ssd drives- you can't hear easily whether its actually working (the platters spinning up).
just making sure you have a power and sata connection onto your ssd- and whether you can see it in bios.

edit: can we declare this officially the longest SETI news thread ever?

I connected it to another machine first - recognised it ok, formatted it in ntfs made it primary etc but no joy when putting it into my new setup:confused:
 
I killed 3 HDDs by having the power plugged into the wrong PSU socket the other day. As said, check its visible in the bios in your new box.
 
Have you installed the sata drivers?

Motherboard usually comes with floppy disc with drivers on it, so can install drivers during windows installation.
 
You normally get the chance to install 3rd party drivers during boot-up, sometimes its something like press 'f8 to install.........' at the bottom of the screen.
If that dont work I would plug ssd into another machine and put the drivers on the root, dont format afterwards when installing windows.

Regarding output over the last 8 days it looks like he might have - I'm making progress as well :D

Nope still only a Q6600 @ 3.2 with the 295 and an Athlon X2 @ 2.8 with a 8800GTX.
Although the athlon has just been upgraded to a 965 @ stock today but it is sat on the desk, clearing the cache, waiting for a new case & PSU for the upcoming upgrade but shh don't tell loudbob i'm coming for him aswell oh and TT aswell if he dosen't come back from the darkside ;)
 
You will have about 2 to 3 weeks of unchallenged output......

My poor rig will be running Milkyway until the new cards get installed......

Just to clear as much of my pending credit on SETI as I can.

I want a clear run with the 2 x 480's & 1 x 260 to see what it can produce.

So, you have until the 10th April to catch me.....unless a miracle happens and 480's become widley available.

Not long enough for me :( (April 10th 2011 would be good :D) but where you are concerned I have a longer term view.

All I can say for sure is the landscape between our two positions will look very different in 12 months time :)

Im sure your 480's n 260 will out do my upgrade but what the hell i've already bought them. I'm hoping it won't be to much of a gap but in reality i know that as soon as you have them i'm gonna be toast.
 
I'm a happy chappy...all up and running and crunching away, had to install w7 on a sata drive which is a shame, even after that my ssd is still not recognised, support said to return it apart from that all ok and stats should start to climb!

woohoo am chuffed finally the investment is starting to pay off..if i do get another machine theres no way i feel like building it at present oc gets my money next time:D
 
A special day for me, the stats have just updated and I find myself at position 176 in the team.

Position 176 was the highest position I achieved on seti classic, finishing with a tiffy for 5000 woo's. (fell back to 287 through slacking :o)

Just for a bit of fun I beat the following on seti classic - you may recognize some names :D.......

287 halz 5000 Active
369 Spie 3374 Slacking
390 TheTross 3020 Active
434 Berserker 2607 Active
435 Slackworth 2601 Slacking
631 werewolf 1332 Slacking

Unfortunatley a few escaped me!......by a large margin.

47 Meridian 28226 Active
55 Feek 25000 Slacking
73 kolala 18861 Active
117 Happy 13015 Slacking
