Just about to pull the trigger on a 160GB X-25M G2. Anything new on the horizon around £350 that I should be waiting for? Are Intel about to release a replacement?

The drive will be used for software development, 160 is a nice size for this.

Running a X25V 40GB along with a 300GB VRaptor on my games machine and I have been very impressed with the performance.

Cheers

Crucial RealSSD destroys pretty much everything out there. Especially when you pair it with a SATA 6Gbps controller.

Not in random read/writes, only sequential.

To the op... out of curiosity, what made you pick the intel when the OCZ LE is noticeably quicker and still within your budget? Just the increase from 100->160GB?

Pretty much and see below

"If you don't want to crunch through the math, Intel estimates that the 80GB X25-M will last for five years with "much greater than" 100GB of write-erase per day. That's a relatively long time for much more data than most folks are likely to write or erase on a daily basis.

Actual drive lifespans aside, Intel rates the X25-M's Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) at 1.2 million hours. That's competitive with the MTBF rating of other MLC-based flash drives and equivalent to common MTBF ratings for enterprise-class mechanical hard drives. "

I also have the 40GB Value version and have been very impressed with the real world performance over my VRaptor 300GB.

i got the 100Gb LE and im very happy with it, getting more than advertised speeds of 286 read 272 write :D
the size suits me fine as i wanted it just for O/S apps and a few choice games. it only has 93.1Gb of useable space but with everything up n running and crysis+dirt2+enemy territory installed i still have 57.0Gb spare
