New car - Z4 M Roadster

Out of interest was it on a private plate previously which spelt a mans name?

The reason I ask is my boss has just changed his Red 06 Z4m for a new M3 and there cant be that many around.

Congratulations Booner! Quality car and as you know I can vouch for the fact you'll have plenty of fun in it. My borther found mine a significant imrpovement over his 350Z.

How does hill start work then? Not heard of such magic on a manual.

HIll start was standard I believe on the Z4Ms. If the car detects you have your foot on both the foot brake and the clutch then when you release your foot off the brake it will keep it engaged regardless until you start moving (as long as it is within two seconds). It doesn't work if you are using the handbrake instead of the regular footbrake. i.e. if you're coming off the handrake only you still have to 'balance' the car as you pull away to stop you slipping backwards.

I want to fit a stubby too, upon first glance it's just a twist job.

If you're talking about the aerial then yes it just unscrews.

If you still find the gear change a bit notchy after a while with the car you can remove the clutch delay valve. I haven't done it on mine, but many report it to be an improvement.

Oooo eeeerrr, just cause I have a hairdresser's car now, don't want you turning!

I think it's the same as SkimpyBeardy's knob (on this forum - E36 328i Sport), he has a Z4 shortshifter I think. He works on my team here, so will take a look at his/yours Saturday. Currently it's a bit too long with the throw I find.

Yeah Fox, he has already seen my knob :P

Gone from one of the best cars in its class to another :) nice one Boon, sounds lovely.

Exactly the same as I'm considering (along with old M3s) once the house stuff settles. Looks very nice, I'm jealous! A red coupe would be just as good too.

Make sure you stick around Z4F too - a good bunch o' folk on there, really.

And get that stubby ordered!

Nice one Booner, great car to have at 21 and I'm not ashamed to say I'm somewhat jealous! I thought I was doing well for myself but you've just blown that way out of the water... Just enjoy the thing!

Always been a bit of a fan of the Z4M since seeing Andy Sixspeed's M on various forums / youtube etc..

as with all M cars, looks like its great fun to hussle round the 'ring. Should get it wrapped white though :p
