Supermarket Brands that are better than the real deal

Tesco Finest Triple Chocolate Cookies.

I would happily eat myself to death with those.

Tesco value orange juice. Have tried lots of different brands but for taste/refreshment it's hard to beat imo.

I quite like cheap/value orange juice as well, it seems to mean they don't use the same sweet oranges that they put into the premium branded products and that suits me just fine as it's cheaper and sour enough to be tasty.

Other than that one of the better packets of crisps I've had are the Somerfield So Good Handcooked Sea Salt and Balsamic Vinegar. Very tasty and usually a little bit cheaper than the Kettle Chips that I often have simply due to availability.

Saw a programme about bottled orange juice, basically the cheap stuff from concentrate doesn't contain anywhere near as much vitamin C as fresh orange juice because they just dry out the oranges and keep it for a long time before making the juice, and the longer you wait the more vit C you lose.

I prefer own brand Jaffacakes, the cake is a totally different texture and more crispy, makes the proper ones taste chewey.

Eugh, no! Orange Juice has to be non concentrated! Other fruit juices are fine from concentrate but Orange Juice is just nasty.:(

Each to their own, i avoid the cartons of juice kept on the shelf or in the chiller but found that the value orange juice from the chiller (in the same style of container as a litre or so of milk), tastes better than most premium brands. Only personal opinion though.

Agree, it tastes sharper and less sweet/cloying.

The production of palm oil also utterly destroys the environment, in cutting down rainforest.

Yet Galaxy are pushing this Rainforest Alliance Cocoa on all their products but are still using palm oil in the chocolate, kinda seems pointless.

This

The exception being when you mix it with Pineapple juice, Cranberry Juice, Rum and Voddie for a swift pre drink cocktail

Own brand baked beans are always considerably better than any of the major manufacturers. Also, I love Somerfield honey hoops, they were immense and I thought they were much better than cheerios/ Could not get enough of them :p

Own brand sauces aren't too bad either to be honest, not really a fan of heinz, paying through the nose for the label to be honest :D

Lidl Crunchy Peanut Butter (Mcennedy) - better than anyones I have tried and considerably cheaper.

Possibly because a lot of the competition (including Marks and Spencer) have switched to using the Palm oil rather than vegetable oil. For some reason everyone seems to be switching to palm oil these days in foodstuffs, and i can taste it a mile off.

dunno if you know this but a large proportion of vegetable oil used IS palm oil.
