Hi all

Any ideas? Since installing W7 HP x64 and IE8 (using 32 bit version), something is up with my cookies.

I keep having to log back into forums, ebay, gmail etc. every few days. Has anyone come across this or have any potential solutions?

Thanks.

Under Internet Options in the General tab, make sure Delete browsing history on exit isn't checked.

Don't if that's the cause but the only thing I can think of on IE8.

Are you using 'inprivate' browsing by any chance? It doesnt store any cookies. Also check the cookie settings in 'tools>internet options>privacy'

Not using in private browsing. And I stay logged in between browsing sessions, it's just that every few days I'll load up IE and I'll have to log back in to all my forums. Which is a big pain in the balls.

Privacy setting is medium - I take it this shouldn't cause any problems?

I kept getting this with Windows 7 x32 and x64. I tried allsorts but couldn't get it working :/ so I moved to Firefox.

This worked for me:-
tools > internet options > privacy > advanced > tick override & accept & accept.
(maybe also session cookies, cant remember)

Do you use CCleaner every days, at all? That, or something else, could be clearing out your cookies.

No, don't tun anything like that. Could be something else that I'm not aware of though.

Ok, I'll bear that in mind as a last resort (no offence to any Firefox users)!

Thanks, I will try that tonight. However, is this not equivalent to reducing the cookie security level to zero?

The strange thing is that my work PC has exactly the same setup, except for the fact that it's running Win 7 32 bit instead of 64 bit (and I don't get this problem at work, I'm always logged in and I don't have override enabled).

Something I haven't mentioned yet...I get quite frequent crashes on my home IE8 when visiting certain websites, especially IMDB. It may be that these crashes are causing the cookies to be deleted, or maybe that my Avast! AV program is doing that. I think it must be a third party plugin such as flash or Adobe something-or-other causing this. Will post back if resolved, in the mean time any other suggestions are very welcome!

Will also try this tonight:

"This fix worked for me:

Open Internet Options, under General Tab click Delete in Browing History, make sure every check box is ON except top one (Preserve...) and click Delete.

That in theory should delete every History... but it does not do it completely (THAT IS THE BUG)

In General Tab click Settings in Browsing History, click View Files, manually delete the remaining Cookies. Do this again and this time also delete the contents of 'view objects' as well as 'view files'.

No problemo!"

Yes if it crashes I have to log back in too. Otherwise its fine.

Update - the solution I posted above *seems* to have worked, as I have had zero unwanted forum logouts and zero internet explorer crashes.

I have this issue on every reboot - logs me out of everything. It's fine between sessions. I'll give that tip a go and see if I can cure it. Had the same issue since the Windows 7 Betas!
