***Nvidia GTX480 & 470 reviews & discussion***

Well, only since the 280GTX to be honest, previously to that ATI and Nvidia used to price their cards fairly evenly along the lines of price/performance. And for pre-overclocked cards, fools and their money are easily parted.

but they still get released...and sell :p

Also, i seem to remember the GTX 285 was a fair bit more expensive than a 4890 but for very little performance increase....

and since when have these sort of price/performance percentages been any different in the world of graphics cards :o

£50 for what will probably amount to about a 5% increase (if that) in performance over a regular 5870

Well if you want to look at the problem like that you could buy pair of (Well I say but you cant yet),

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-031-ZT&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1750

For £955.98 that are %15 (?) faster than a pair of overclocked 5850 for £442.

The problem is we are not going to see a dual GTX480 so the GTX480 has to fill that spot as well. I think Jokesters argument is totally correct if Nvidia can't build a dual GPU card.

Actually I think there will be a dual fermi card

TechREACTION.net: Previously you’ve had dual GPU cards such as the GTX 295. Do you have any plans to do the same thing with the GTX 480 GPU?

Bryan Del Rizzo: So we can’t comment on that today, we haven’t announced any product. But I have to kind of laugh because when we launched the GeForce GTX 285, there were a lot of rumors that said we couldn’t do a dual GPU product with that chip. They said it was architecturally impossible, it was too power hungry, it would just be impossible to do. And of course we brought the GTX 295 to market; it did really well! (laughs) So, if you look at the history of Nvidia, you can probably pretty much figure out what we’re going to do, but I can’t give you a confirmation on that today.

Pointless for Nvidia 3D Vision? Think before you type.

ATi are about to launch their own 3D product, so ...
And don't get me started on 3D "products" period, having to wear a pair of "shades" that make you look *** is just well ***

Bring on holo-projection monitors and the like!

Opinions are like ***holes - everyone has got one, and most of them stink.

Sadly in your case the smell is magnified by your obvious fanboyism. Troll off.

Settle down, its Nvidia and the guy seems to think a gtx295 is a pair of gtx285's.

Just consider this is Nvidia's first problem. A dual GTX480 would hit something like a 700 watt card.

Found this over at GuruBBQ

"The new Nvidia GPUs are spot on when it comes to cooking food, cooking our meats almost instantly with a superb charcoal taste. The ATi cards lacked behind, even subjected to 100% torture in a furnace, whereas the Nvidia cards comfortably cooked the food at idle in a ice cold room"
