Does a good brand powersupply make any difference EZCOOL to better brand?

Make a list of games you play and want to get, then head over to the benchmarks from a few reputable sites and see if the numbers make sense to you. This is what I do when thinking of buying a new card. No point spending money just for the sake of it.

Just to reiterate what other have said, a quality PSU is well worth the money. I bought myself a Tagan 580watt PSU over 4yrs ago for well over £100 and it's still running rock solid. It's currently powering an overclocked i7 920 system and an overclocked 5850. I wouldn't recommend running a 5850 on anything less than a high quality 550 watt PSU.
 
Avoid the second hand market, especially for PSUs. Not worth the risks IMHO.

How desperate are you to upgrade your graphics card? ATI has a refresh on the way, and Nvidia has yet to release the mid-range Fermis (I know it's had bad press, but I've got a suspicion that they might just swing it back with the GT460).
 
I would go for Seasonic,Corsair or Antec. If you are looking at the OEMs(the companies which actually make the PSUs) the best IMHO are Seasonic,CWT and Delta Electronics.

Both the Corsair HX650W and Antec TruePower New 750W are made by Seasonic and have Japanese made capacitors.

I bought a ezcool 700 modular psu for £50 to run my hd4870 which it did fine, but after reading so many horror stories and bad press about ezcool, i felt like my pc had became a time bomb just waiting to wipe out all my components.

i soon purchased a new 550 watt single rail corsair for £65 which has 42 amps on one rail, and can now rest assured im safe.

i didnt even dare leave on my pc overnight whilst using the ezcool, and was the longest 2 weeks ever.

Should really have done the reading before i bought it, i was to buisy checking prices and amps on the rail.

I was quite worried at the time so went on to you tube to see if anyone else was using the ezcool psu`s. I think i found around a dozen vids with ezcool as a psu in their specs.

Out of the ones i asked if the psu was still ok 1 gave me a reply, ( It broke )..
but luckily didnt take the pc with it..



So yes " EZCOOL to better brand? " Definatley, when you can get a quality psu like corsair for little difference in money and with a 5 year warranty, which you will probably never use.
