I was using a Samsung HM160HI HDD. Can anyone please suggest a replacement that wont set me back a massive amount! Thanks

Until I saw you mention cost I was going to say an SSD, massive improvement on a laptop and worth every penny but only if you can afford it...
Your old drive is a 5,400rpm drive I see. Depending on the age of your laptop (if it's newer go with SSD) I'd recommend getting a 7,200rpm drive. I did this for my DELL for under £50 and now it's like using a desktop machine. The response time is much better and it didn't cost me too much to do.
