strike witches is awesome i love the stolen panties episode. On last episode now :( plz can anyone recommend somit like it i love the panty shots hehe and the comedy in it.

I had forgotten how relaxing A*** is, I just finished the OVA and first couple of episodes of Origination and I'm absolutely loving it.
I think I just spent most of the last 90 minutes with a goofy smile on my face.

Ah sweet :)

No dates yet I assume?

I would guess that Spice and Wolf series 2 may be out around Christmas (along the same lines as season one) but that'll depend on how long it takes them to produce the dub etc ...

Chobits, from a secondary source; 2011 release apparently on both DVD and BR (hence may be a double dip)

Eden of the East movies .... well we haven't had the series yet, 2011 release on DVD and Blu-ray ...

Yep it's just **** good ;)

edit: one more thing for Eden of the East; they have the original OP for it (there was a question mark over whether they would be able to get the rights to use it).

Comedy and pants stuff sounds a lot like the Rosario+Vampire anime throughout the two seasons (I watched it for the humour and light romance as Im not that bothered with fanservice!). Don't know enough about Strike Witches to say if there are any other similarities, but might be worth a watch.

Where's the best place to start with anime? It's always something thats looked pretty cool but it's so diverse and theres so much of it out there that I don't know where to start watching it. I've never watched any anime before either, and it's always seemed pretty expensive to buy on DVD.

But I'm interested in watching some anime stuff so where should I start?

The above are quite good if wanting to browse for something, lots of choices anyway.
One of the more knowledgeable otaku will be along shortly i expect with some idesas for you i expect :)

Thanks for those links, I'll have a read of those sites.

By the way, regarding DVDs, is it mainly imports from the US that I will be needing to buy or can you get most stuff from the UK aswell? If I need to import, where is the best place to find anime?

Horror type stuff mainly. And Fantasy kinda stuff, I know of something called Fullmetal Alchemist which I think/would assume is fantasy?

Fullmetal Alchemist is more Sci-Fi Fantasy and Steampunk.

Personally I could recommend;

Death Note
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Fate/stay night

A bit of horror in each of these with some supernatural elements. Death Note is a wonderful and smart detective cat & mouse sort of game, Higurashi is just violent and confusing at first until you understand what the whole premise is really about, and Fate/stay Night is more action and fantasy based with a very nice theme.

EDIT- LOL something I noticed with my 3 recommendations is that Kenji Kawai did the soundtrack to them, well regarding Death Note, he only did the live-action movie version. But he was known for doing the soundtrack to the original Japanese Ring movies as well.

If you start looking down the whole Sci-Fi route then I'd recommend Full Metal Panic too :)
Elfen Lied is also very gory which might suffice for the horror side for you (although its in no way really a horror show, its just not afraid of dismemberment, decapitation and the likes).

Elfen Lied would make an excellent drinking game if the amount you drank was proportional to how many limbs/body parts are sliced off

Well last summer i gorged on anime after years away. The ones that still stick in my mind as good are

Spice and Wolf
Love Complex
Ah My Godess (series not ova)
Death Note
Love Hina
Chobits
Clannad
K-On
Ghost in the shell series

And don't miss out on films:
The girl who leapt through time
Summer Wars

There may be others, but those are the only ones i remember, so they must be good.

Also, i am preparing for this summer's gorge and made a list, i realised i'm a huge softy and like my romance/highschool/harem comedies. So far i have

Toradora!
Zero no Tsukaima
Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka
Kimi ni Todoke
Ai Yori Aoshi
Hand Maid May
Mahoraba ~Heartful Days~
Angel Tales
Happy Lesson
Happy World!
To Heart (and 2)

Any ones i should include? Or cut out because they're rubbish?

Oh and i am about to start Last Exile

lol yes yes it would.
Unfortunately my mate who introduced me to it is virtually teetotal these days because it played havoc with his health and his playing (hes in a band), otherwise I'd give it a go :p

Have you seen Season II? In a few ways its not quite as good as the first, but in otherways its better than the first season...licensed now so if that was your hold up the official version is coming soon :D

Although I've seen Last Exile, I wouldnt rate it as one of the best/most enthralling animes I've seen, although as I remember the animation isn't bad. Its not a short anime too, so perhaps give it a try and see if it is to your taste.

yes i have seen S&W2, i loved it as well and waiting bitterly for season 3

Join the club :( Still the animation and novels seem popular so there is at least a CHANCE of one...maybe.

@Demoniser - The animation is probably the best bit of the show as I remember, it just didnt grow on me that well. I've seen it well recommended here as well as elsewhere, it just didnt grab me that much, I ended up finishing it for the sake of completing. Elfen Lied, Full Metal Panic, Spice and Wolf, Beck, FMA and even stuff like R+V left a bigger impression on me, it just struck me as pretty, and ok, but if I'd never seen it I certainly wouldnt feel like I'd missed out.
