Macbook Pro - buy now, or wait?

I've been keeping an eye out too, reading forum after forum.

General concensus of opinion (not fact) is, Apple will concentrate on the launch of their new Ipad, then if intel can supply sufficient numbers of their mobile i7/i5 cpu's the MB/MBP would be next in line, then the iphone. The rest of the lineup some where inbetween.

As far as spec goes, i5, i7, USB3, SATA3, no one knows, it is all rumour.

Well I've just sold my old MB so I need an update to come soonish :)
Macrumours is reporting an update this month. I too have a MacBook sized pile of cash just waiting for them to be announced. I don't need a pro but a nice new MB white would be very welcomed.

A couple more rumours.

The Apple Daily report also specifically mentions that the updated laptop models are expected to offer hard drives up to 640GB or SSDs up to 248GB. The battery life of the updated models may also be pushed to eight hours across the board, up from the seven hours quoted for current models. The increased efficiency may likely come from NVIDIA's Optimus platform, which can switch on-the-fly between a dedicated GPU and the integrated graphics included in the Core i3, i5, and i7 packages.

It's been rumoured for ages that they've been waiting/testing the new on the fly gfx tech.

And that article has the oblig
We have also heard through the grapveine that an update might come as early as next week, though this is unconfirmed.

Haven't you got one yet? It was six weeks ago you asked, you may as well have boughto one then!

I know, but it's not absolutely essential that I buy a MacBook right away, and would feel a bit annoyed buying one only for a completly revised model to come out shortly afterwards!!

I still can't decide between a 21" iMac or a new (when its out) 15" MBP

I love the iMac screens and mouse/keyboard however I liked the idea how being able to just sit with the laptop on my knees and browse web etc, it's just I know the price of a new MBP is going to put me off :(

Get a 21" iMac and an iPad, best of both worlds. :D

I can't be bothered with the iPad, I have an iphone and thats fine for quickly checking e-mails etc

fixed it for you :p

Haha, theres no need for me to get a 27" iMac just for browsing the web/email

Infact there is no need for me to spend 800-1000 on an apple product to do this.. :p

if your surfing the internet you might as well do it in style, like buying a car that can do 200mph you cant do that on these roads but we still want one :P

Wait no longer people, Tuesday should do it!

MacRumors quote;

After months of speculation, it appears Apple is finally going to deliver new MacBook Pro systems to customers. The above screenshot shows part numbers that Microcenter has received for new Mac systems. We've since received independent confirmation that those part numbers are legitimate, and that we should expect new 15" and 17" MacBook Pros very soon. The image shows 4 different systems:

Apple System Good-USA $1799.99
Mac system #1 Best-USA $2199.99
Mac system #2 Best-USA $2299.99
Mac system Better-USA $1999.99

These seem to correspond with three 15" MacBook Pros and a 17" MacBook Pro ($2299.99). The new machines are likely using Intel's Core i7 and i5 mobile processors.

While previous rumors have pinpointed April 13th as the likely day, other reports we've received are less certain of that date. Regardless, we feel reasonably confident that the new MacBook Pros will come very soon.
