Evening all.
It was last Easter Monday when I went on stage, roughly around this time at Comedy Virgins night at The Cavendish Arms in Stockwell, South London. Some of you waited until silly hours of the morning to watch my first nervy attempt at five minutes of stand up comedy which I video'd and stuck on youtube.
Over the past twelve months, as much as I'd like to have made it on to Mock the Week by now, I've managed to perform 10 gigs. A couple of competitions and on stage at my local theatre's comedy night, Covent Garden and Soho and more at Stockwell and Brixton. Ideally, they say to 'make it' in comedy, I should aim to do around 3 gigs per week. As you can see, I'm waaay off that, but as the circuit is mostly in central London, and I live in Maidstone, it's as and when I have the energy, time and money to be able to do it around work and home life.
Anyway, the reason I'm posting, is just to highlight a personal milestone, and to thank those that were encouraging from my first gig. Having strangers give constructive but supportive feedback was very pivotal in driving me on and keeping me at it. Sadly I've lost a little focus as of late, having not gigged since mid Feb, but I will find my way back onto the track soon I hope.
So basically, thanks to those that were supportive, and those that have 'become a fan' on facebook etc. Who knows, one day, in ten years time, I might even make some money to cover my petrol!
The following contain a couple of f-words please don't listen if you are likely to get offended by them
My awkward, very first go at stand-up comedy
...and the following link is the same comedy night, about six months later, where I got a great response from the crowd. Camera packed up so audio only.
If you know links have swearies, don't post them!
^^ Fair enough
See sig if you're interested.
Cheers
